Free Music Review: One of the year's (and the Kings') best releases!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

I've been listening to this album a lot this year, and having just seen them put on a great live show I can tell already that I'm going to afiliate this time in my life with the Kottonmouth Kings. People have been saying negative things about this album, but I'm not suprised. People who don't like the Kings say that this is a bunch of white guys rapping about getting drunk and stoned, and is the kind of thing fratboys listen to. But that's what they first said about Liscenced to Ill. Plus, some longtime fans (and I am a longtime fan) are saying that they sold out by experimenting with reggae, rock, slower songs, and more of the punk rock that they've been doing recently. But that's what longtime Clash fans first said about London Calling. My point is that this is a fantastic album that succeeds on many levels and reaches many heights. The punk songs are possibly the only thing keeping the genre alive, with horrible poppy emo and mainstream pop-punk bands that fill out arenas and dominate MTV and the airwaves getting blown out of the water in comparison. And the white rapping puts all rap-metal acts to shame, and simply annihilates frat-boy posers like the Bloodhound Gang and recent ICP. And the range is remarkable; one would never guess that many of the songs came from the same record, especially in this day and age. Their flowing is as great as ever, and the experiments are all risks that the band should be accoladed for, and not only that, they work amazingly! One of the year's few must buys, a great addition to the Kings' catalogue, and (you heard it here first) and album that will be talked about for years.

Free Music Review: Rollin' Stoned
Hit: 5 Stars

Aahh. Finally the Kings return with the 4th full length album. 6 years later, less one orignal member, and they still know how to get down.

At first listen, several tracks off Rollin' Stoned share very few characteristics of previous works. Although the Kings keep their tag-teaming rhyme style throughout, several songs display a strong punk rock influence (Full Throttle, Zero Tolerance, Sub-Noize Rats just to name a few) which was almost non-existant on previous albums. The content of the Kings work has not changed, nor will it, hence the name, Kottonmouth Kings. The theme has stayed the same from day one, "live while you live," and smoke a lot of weed.

Personally, I feel as if this album shows how the group has matured musically over the past few years. Not only to the beats seem to be more technical thanks to Bobby B, but each member actually sings!

Also, this is the first Kottonmouth Kings album to use the 'interlude' feature the Kings very own old basketball coach.

To sum: The new album is great, although the style has seemed to change from hip-hop to more rock. For you devoted fans, give it time. Kick back and LISTEN to what these guys say. Don't let the new sound change your ideas about the group.

Free Music Review: Their Prime Of Perfection...
Hit: 5 Stars

A toss-up...ever since this album came out, I havn't been able to decide which is my favorite...High Society or Rollin' Stoned. To me, High Society embodies all that KMK stand for as far as the message, the attitude, etc...so it gives you that vibe you're looking for. On the other hand, Rollin' Stoned is the perfect blend of what their sound should be. Mosh to "Sub-Noize Ratz", bump "Sleepers" or just smoke 'n' chill to "Tangerine Sky". They really can't be labeled and they probably don't want to be. They make their music how they want knowing that there will be more nay-sayers than not. That's the main thing I love about these guys. They do their own thing regardless of what anyone thinks. I admire and respect that to the fullest. All that aside, KMK are like THE best band to come along in a while so screw everything else. Oh...and please stop associating them with ICP...would you constantly associate Garth Brooks with David Bowie? No reason. How about Judas Priest and Black Eyed Peas?

Free Music Review: great disc
Hit: 5 Stars

i've been a diehard kings fan since Royal Highness (they're best work to date) and i haven't been disappointed thus far. their latest, Rollin Stoned, isn't any exception either. Stoned is completely different from their previous discs. Hidden Stash II hinted as to the direction the kings were beginning to go as far as production, but their latest entry, in some cases, makes them sound like a completely different group. you can tell that the unit matured a lot, and their experimenting with harmonies and actual singing might throw you off at first, but the songs grow on you fast. the rhymes are also a lot tighter. in some cases the lyrics are lacking a little compared to their previous releases, but the beats, delivery and overall sound makes this CD perfect for bumping in your ride. i still think Royal Highness is their best, but Stoned isn't far behind. check out the new DVD too. gotta a lot more in depth stuff compared to Dopeumentary, it rocks.

Free Music Review: Kottonmouth Kings Still blowin Smoke Rings
Hit: 5 Stars

Yo!, Kottonmouth Kings are by far one of the best music groups out there, they've got an awsome sound unlike any other group and are true to there fans. I've been down with the Krown for about 4 years and meet a couple of the members at various shows...this cd is tight adds to the rest real nice, its got alot of different sounds and awsome to chill to...Andrew Jenkins gave it a bad rapp and claims to be down with the krown...well if he was really down with the krown then he would enjoyed the new beats that the Kings produced!!(and if your reading this Andrew you dont call the group KK its KMK)and they didnt go mainstream or turn pop....and dont ever compare them to dave matthews band again please..anyway check out Saint Dogg and Phunk Junkeez !! coming soon to a venue near you!!
