Free Music Review: You Won't Regret Buying It

As a big fan of Terry Riley, this has to be one of my favorite albums by him. He seems to abandon some of his minimalist tendencies in this album, but don't get me wrong- this sounds just like Terry Riley. If you liked Shri Camel and A Rainbow in Curved Air, you're sure to like this. It yields a feeling of other-worldliness that's tough to come by.

Let me be clear- the Kronos Quartet did not arbitrarily decide to interpret a previously released studio album. This was a collaboration between Riley and the Kronos Quartet that was published in 2008, and it has not been recorded by any other ensemble.

The Kronos Quartet play with sublimity that's matched only by the Philip Glass Ensemble. The decision to bring in the pipa player Wu Man was an excellent decision. She is also a very great singer.

The liner notes that come with this CD are written excellently, and give a superb explanation about this album.
