Free Music Review: Iconic, Before Its Time : Kula Shaker's Best Album

Incredibly, this CD still wins over new fans every year. This was Kula Shaker's second album, but while it sold only 25,000 copies in the year of release in Britain, it remains possibly one of the best rock albums of the 1990s.
This is much better than their debut, "K". The Indian influences are very much there - in fact, "Radhe" and the closer "Nandana" are almost entirely Indian-sounding, and a step up from their breakout single "Govinda". Kula Shaker is unique because more than ten years later, this CD still sounds fresh and exciting - and the production seems way ahead of its' time.
Kula Shaker's third album "Strangefolk" may have disappeared under the radar, but you needn't look anywhere else but this CD for the best of Kula Shaker. Pick this up, as well as their Greatest Hits "Kollected", and you're set.
If you're into psychedelic pop-rock with more than a fair share of Indian instrumentation and George Harrison overtones, this is the album for you.
Note: The original version of the CD Is out of print in the US. This is the Bonus CD Edition (2CD Pack - which is a much better edition), and ironically, this edition is still in print!
