Free Music Review: Kylie's best album from the Parlaphone Era

When Kylie returned in 2000 to release her new album, Light Years, that was it, she was popular again. She released Spinning Around, her next of the string of the #1 hits she'd had in the past, released three other singles and also released two other singles in Germany and Australia (Your Disco Needs You) and the US, a big step for Kylie (Butterfly). This was a great come back album!
All I have to say is if you should buy one Kylie Parlaphone album, not that you should not have all three, this is the one you need. Do not pass up on Fever or Body Language because they are both excellent too, but in other words, this is her best Parlaphone effort to date. The effort on this album is just so amazing!
It includes four of six singles that were released in the UK including the big hit Spinning Around and two of the six that were released some where else in the world. These are great, but amongst this, the album Light Years also features the brilliant title track and seven other favourite album tracks with the fans. You would be mad to miss it!
The first track is Spinning Around. The song is excellent and went straight to #1 on the UK Charts as a very well done come back single. It also spent eleven weeks on the Top 75! On A Night Like This is the second track and the best single release. It hit #2 in the UK, where it spent seven weeks on the Top 75 and went straight to #1 in Australia!
The next five tracks are all great. So Now Goodbye sounds slightly like Your Disco Needs You in a very strange way, Disco Down is another that I sing along to and helplessly end up losing my voice over, Love Boat and Koocachoo are stand outs on the album and Your Disco Needs You meets Camp Kylie! It is by far the best song on this album and very unique. Definately one of the best Kylie songs ever, amongst the many!
The eighth track is Please Stay. This song peaked at #10 in the UK and spanned a total running of seven weeks on the Top 75. The song also peaked at #15 in Australia. Number nine is a very beautiful Kylie ballad and is Bittersweet Goodbye. Ten is Butterfly. This was released as a single in the US which included remixes by such as Craig J and Trisco.
Under The Influence Of Love is track eleven and is another album stand out or high light, then again they are alot! It has a somewhat tropical feel to it in my opinion. I'm So High and Kids show a much more 'rockier' side to Kylie on this album. Kids was the infamous duet with Robbie Williams which went straight to #2 in the UK and spent almost twenty weeks on the Top 75!
The last track is the title track: Light Years. It lasts for nearly five minutes, so it is the longest track on the album. Overall though, it is a very great track and nothing is dull about it. I especially like it when she speaks as if she is a Air Hostess!
Overall - Stars
All of the tracks on this album are excellent. To sum up how good this album really is, I would give all of the tracks on this album ten stars, apart from the duet with Robbie Williams, Kids, which I would only give nine. This album is excellent and no Kylie fan should be without it. The album Light Years went straight to #2 on the UK Charts where it spanned an impressive twenty-eight weeks on the UK Top 100 Albums Chart!
