Free Music Notes for Light YearsFree Music Review: Unnecessary to buy! Hit: 2 Stars
I don't understand why many people think highly of this album...To me,it's just dull, dull, dull!I think this album is totally imbalanced, the rest of the CD make extreme contrast to the singles, which are the only songs worth listening to.Some people describe it as camp fun, well,I don't know what that is,but I'm sure camping would be much more fun without necessarily playing this music.Personally,I think this is the most unconsistent album Kylie Minogue has ever made by far!Guys,if you wanna get your hands on Kylie,I only recommend buying or downloading "Fever" and "Impossible Princess",those are the only Kylie records worth buying.
Free Music Review: Skip This One Hit: 2 Stars
There are only 2 good songs on this album: "Spinning Around" and "On a Night Like This". Both are availible on her "Ultimate Kylie" compilation, so there's no need to purchase this album. Well, "Love Boat" is also okay, but you don't NEED to own it.
Free Music Review: Music for the feebleminded? Hit: 1 Stars
Light Years by Miss Minogue was a huge let down. She needed Paula Abdul to write the lead single so I didn't really expect much... This album is full of covers or if she hasn't recorded an old song then her "new" melodies sound like something Cathy Dennis did back in 1990. Hardly innovative or fresh.Kylie got into a lot of trouble after "stealing" Greek pop sensation Anna Vissi's On A Night Like This hit single. Minogue released her version of this catchy Vissi track but recorded an inferior version. If you ever get to hear Anna's original you know what I mean. Kylie turned the beautiful love song into a disposable disco anthem. Then there's the Donna Summer ... "Light Years". At least they could have thanked Summer for the inspiration... (Kylie borrows heavily from Summer's I Feel Love). Please Stay, I'm So High and the atrocious Loveboat are final proof that Kylie is not a very talented singer or a lyricist. Apparently Minogue helped write lyrics such as "Please stay, my babe, who knows when we'll dance again". If you need any further proof this album is below average then go to your local record shop and put on So Now Goodbye. That has got to be the worst song ever recorded by any artist. Lyrically it's braindead. But the melody? Let's just say "Ooops I've heard this all before". Try again Kylie... or did Parlophone drop you already? I wouldn't be surprised if they did.
Free Music Review: Kylie's WORST album - so camp and disposable... very bad Hit: 1 Stars
"Light Years" is Kylie's worst album ever. It is a huge step back from her last studio album "Impossible Princess", which was ace. That was the real Kylie but in order to be popular she is compelled to record music like this. Sad that people prefer this dreadful, commercialised music to her earlier, credible work.
DETESTABLE! HORRID! CHEAP!
pop-dance track "Butterfly" is tolerable, and though "On A Night Like This" is pretty good, I find it hard to take an artist seriously who gets more babyish and immature as she grows up.
"Please Stay" is so gaudy and much too "gay". Just check out the horrid video to the track - how the hell did this reach the top 10?!! (By the way I'm NOT homophobic!)
I don't even like her duet "Kids", with Robbie Williams. It sucks. And "Under The Influence Of Love" makes her voice sound so shrill and annoying.
The title track "Light Years" sounds unoriginal and dull.
Avoid this album like the plague. (...)
Free Music Review: The cover says it all... Hit: 1 Stars
After attempting to listen to the awful musical train-wreck called "Fever", I thought that I would see if her earlier work was any good. After all, some performers' earlier work is better that their new stuff. But I'm afraid this CD is just as terrible as "Fever", her only talent seems to be displaying her booty on the cover (although it is a very nice booty). I'm spoiled I guess, listening to good house/club music like Ben Watt, Sasha&Digweed, Faithless and others. Why do people like bad club garbage like this? It always mystifies me. Support good music, watch her videos if you must (I recommend turning the sound down while watching her bounce around the screen) don't buy this lame CD.
