Free Music Review: TOTALLY MY DISCO NEEDS YOU
Hit: 5 Stars

The comeback record from miss Minogue is all about dance-disco beat with a touch of class, the leading single SPINNING AROUND, written by pop sensation PAULA ABDUL, the song is about get on your feet and get on with your life, such a GAY-DRAMA anthem, that's for sure, an upbeat track with such melancolic approach that focuses on every emotion on rebuilding your track after a misstep in LOVE, the second single ON A NIGHT LIKE THIS is an instant catchy dance number courtesy of METRO this song is totally for dance and pop lovers, a great tune, the third single KIDS is a rock-pop anthem about been simply in love with ROCK music, the fourth single PLEASE STAys totally sux, is not a good track is simple not groundbreakin' and one of the most unnoticeble tracks in the record, a track release only in Gremany YOUR DISCO NEEDS YOU is a GAY anthem and is tooooo much for it, is written by ROBBIE WILLIAMS and that only asures he's tendencies, wich is OK, SO NOW GOODBYE, is the best track that wasn't release, so goooood!, DISCO DOWN, is the second best track none seen the light of radio, quotes every great DISCO track. KOKACHOO is odd, BUTTERFLY is fast and danceable, LIGHT YEARS is a-la-DONNA SUMMER great midtempo electronic vibe. This is album is an import must have to any amrican for the love of true good music, so let's dance!

Free Music Review: Your Disco Needs Kylie
Hit: 5 Stars

When Kylie released the single "Spinning Around"...that's what it...Kylie was popular again...the difficult songs were history. It was time for new sex & dance Kylie. The single went number 1 in UK and it was a real success all over the world. The second single "On a Night Like This" went number 2 in UK and also "Kids" (a classic song made with Robbie Williams) went number 2. The album wen through the roof annd it was Kylie's time for her greatest success ever. Even the beginning of her carriere where she sang "I Should Be So Lucky" and "The Loco-Motion" can't be compared this time. There was released one more single in UK "Please Stay" which also went to top ten. "Your Disco Needs You" is so fresh and powerful that it is one my favourites from this album...the chorus is excellent...it's wonderful when Kylie uses a choir. "Bittersweet Goodbye" is a peaceful and sad song...Kylie's voice is very sad. Other songs are more like party songs and that's why this is recommended for everybody who wants to dance...or likes good music. By the way, what does "I'm Under the Influence of Love" means? I have an idea for that.
Stars: Spinning Around, On a Night Like This, Your Disco Needs You, Please Stay

Free Music Review: Goosebumps!
Hit: 5 Stars

This is definitely my album of the year so far. Kylie fans will love it as it is a total return to her roots for the Aussie Diva after the breathtaking (but sadly poorly received) experimentation of Impossible Princess. Don't by this CD if you are expecting groundbreaking, cutting edge sounds or lyrics...that's not what Light Years is about. Buy it if you want a CD that you can put on at any time of the day - morning to get you going before heading off to work...Friday night getting ready to go out. This is guilty music. You'll find yourself singing along out of sheer enjoymnet. Personal favourites are 'On a Night Like This', 'Under the Influence of Love' and 'I'm So High'.

US readers should note that this CD has already produced 2 Australian #1 singles and 3 UK top 2 singles. A US release is reportedly slated for September 2001 - by which time the feel of Light Years will have passed....RECORD COMPANIES SHOULD TAKE NOTE: THE MUSIC BUYING PUBLIC NOW HAS GLOBAL ACCESS TO CD'S UPON RELEASE...DELAYS SUCH AS THIS WILL ONLY HURT SALES IN THE US.

Enough of my ranting! Buy it. Do it now. You won't regret it.

Free Music Review: Kylie does disco!
Hit: 5 Stars

I've hardly had this CD off the deck since I stole it from my brother (and he's not getting it back!). It's the perfect summer CD, just right for the Friday evening get-together. Kylie's sounding great, and she's got some pretty sharp arrangements. Listen to all the tracks and try to guess where she got her tricks from (Donna Summer, Village People, even a touch of Petshop Boys). The addition of Robbie Williams as songwriter on several tracks, most noticeably 'Kids', serves Kylie well, though I'm a little disappointed that this version doesn't include Williams' 'honorary Sean Connery' rap.

While some other reviewers have commented on the lack of oomph in the lyrics, I found several of the songs (Spinning Around; So Now Goodbye) a little like Carole Bayer Sager's "You're Moving Out Today'"--lighthearted & fun, but still sung by a young woman in control of her life. And you can dance to them <g>

I hope for Kylie's sake--and US listeners who might be put off by the price--that an arrangement is agreed for US-release. This is one CD not to be missed!

Free Music Review: Our Discos Definately Need Kylie
Hit: 5 Stars

Probably my favorite album of 2000, Kylie Minogue's LIGHT YEARS was a return to form after the experimental alternative dance of her previous album IMPOSSIBLE PRINCESS. Whereas the Eurodance in the vein of Cher's comeback 'Believe' is still very prevalent in the UK, Minogue goes for more of a retro-disco feel, very similar in vein to Donna Summer's seminal seventies work. Granted there are some straight-up dance tunes here, among them the superb singles 'Spinning Around' and 'On A Night Like This', but the pleasures don't stop there. Among other choice cuts, there's 'Disco Down', the superb Robbie Williams duet 'Kids', and the gloriously campy 'YOur Disco Needs You'. It's a crime that she's been absent from the US music scene so long--this stuff is so much more addictive than the kiddie pop that owns the record industry right now. With a domestic record release looming on the horizon, hopefully more people will become privy to this Australian siren's great music. P.S.Check out this along with ELBOW BEACH, the great album from UK vocalist Louise.
