The USA has always had trouble understanding Kylie. Well, she is an icon. That's right. She is mentioned in the same breath as Madonna and is one of the most successful recording artists of all time - in the rest of the world. However with the barage of Britney's and Christina's spewing out across the world it might be a little easier for you to get it now. She is a pop star. This album is an excellent example of that. Easily slappin' Ms. Spears and her mates in the chops, she burns the dancefloor with intelligence and irony as well as bloody good songs. Quite frankly if you don't get it now you're as odd as the rest of the world thinks you are...GoodbyeFree Music Review: A nice, very pleasing ride through discoland!

After becoming a fan by way of purchasing the U.K. import of 'Fever', which made me a fan, I finally broke down after reading the reviews here of 'Light Years'. I am so glad that I did. It was well worth paying the import price. Although there are a couple 'clunkers' on the disc, the overall feeling is one of PURE, JOYOUS fun... That's the entire point of this disc. As a child born in the mid-70's , I was raised on a steady diet of Donna Summer, Gloria Gaynor, and Michael Jackson, among MANY other artists... and this brings back a great feeling of those dance songs.Do yourself an ENORMOUS favour - BUY IT!...
You can't go wrong with this album.

This disc kicks major backside! From start to finish you'll hear Kylie Minogue at her unbelievable best. "Butterfly", "Disco down", "Spinning around" and "Your disco needs you" are tons of fun. This disc is supposed to be released in the U.S. in the fall of 2001, but after its been edited and made more accessible for the American audience thats obsessed with teenage pop singers and boy bands (all of which are interchangable). I suggest you get the original before its ruined. And if thats not enough, she has a real "new" album coming out overseas called "Fever" that already has a smash single to its credit(Cant get you out of my head).Free Music Review: Fun dance-pop!

This album is really fun and upbeat. In my opinion, the best tracks are singles "Spinning Around", "On a Night Like This", "Please Stay" and "Butterfly", which all rate 11/10; but that doesn't mean that the rest of the album is bad at all. All the other tracks are 9/10s except for "Bittersweet Goodbye" and "Kids" which seem out-of-place on this album. I give them both 8/10.
If you're into music with more meaning and depth, check out the albums "Impossible Princess" and "Kylie Minogue" instead. If you're having a dance party, throw on this album (along with "Fever") and dance all night long!

Love this album, Light Years is one of Kylie Minogue's best album this decade, The track 'Your Disco Needs You' got me hooked right after the first beat drop, 'Butterfly' made just soar, and the track 'Spinning Around' was just killer. Over all though this one album that I will probably be still listening to for light years to come. Disco Down, So Now Goodbye, were killer break up songs. Light Years the title track was awesome as well. Over all the only track on this album that I did not like was Bittersweet Goodbye which seemed to be a leftover track from her previous album Impossible Princess.
