Free Music Notes for XFree Music Review: So much better than the last album Hit: 5 Stars
After being disappointed with Kylie's last studio album, I was a bit wary of X. Thank heavens my worries were unfounded when I heard a few tracks off the album on a mixed cd a friend made for me. Now that I have heard X in its entirety, I have to say this is definitely a vast improvement over BODY LANGUAGE (which I thought was a dreadful mess). The songs are infectious and addictive. The electro beats reminded me of some of Madonna's music in the last few years like on track 4 "Speakerphone" but a lot catchier. As a breast cancer survivor, Kylie could have easily taken the introspective approach to her new album but she didn't. Instead she created a highly energetic electro-pop album that is a ton of fun to listen to. The melodies are addictively catchy. The only song I didn't care for is "All I See". I didn't care much for the melodies. My personal favorite tracks are: "In My Arms", "Speakerphone", "The One", and "No More Rain" (which is my personal favorite song on the album). I am so glad that Kylie has bounced back from breast cancer and that mess that is called BODY LANGUAGE. She has put out the best pop album I have heard in a long time.
Free Music Review: Serious return to form - a very big WOW Hit: 5 Stars
I've listened to this album only once but am already astounded and very pleased; this is simply a brilliant outing and a whole lot of fun. Leading with the big splashy single "Two Hearts" the album leads moves quickly away from glam and onto disco, R&B, and a little bit of everything else under the sun. Though clearly lacking cohesiveness, the album is clearly, and lovingly covering ground that she's already touched on her other 9 albums. There's definitely shades of Fever and Body Language but also goes back further including tinges of her SAW years and revisits Kylie's biggest achievement, Light Years, on more than several occasion. Clearly there are many players pulling the strings here and the breadth of the album may be too broad for many, but there are so many shimmering moments of pop joy, the appeal of this album just can't be denied. If ALL I SEE isn't released as aUS single I would say that clearly her record company is being run by idiots; it's an absolutely fabulous R&B ditty drawing deep comparisons to Janet's Velvet Rope era and it's probably the best moment on the album.
Free Music Review: Kylie's back! Hit: 5 Stars
I wasn't the hugest fan of Kylie Minogue prior to listening to this album. I had heard hits like "Slow" and "Can't Get You Outta My Head" and was very fond of them, however I had never purchased a full Kylie Minogue CD before, and now I know that I've been missing out. "X" is one of the best CDs I've bought all year and well worth the money. I had heard "The One" on an internet radio station and was immediately addicted to this song. I searched up and down iTunes for it and was discouraged when it was not available, so I went to Amazon and low and behold it was there. Not only did the "The One" satisfy my need for senthisized pop music, I also found several other songs on the album to be more than fanstatic. I bought this CD for one song and ended up loving the entire album. My favorites by far are "Speakerphone", "Sensitized", "The One", "All I See", "Nu-Di-Ty" and "Like a Drug". This CD is a pop masterpiece!
Free Music Review: Kylie....the perfect pop artist. Hit: 5 Stars
Kylie is the only artist who started off making pop music and 20 years later is still making pop records to perfection. She doesnt just make pop music. She makes bubblegum pop music...my favorite and she does it with no apologies. When i first heard Two Hearts i immediately thought she was going to give us another Impossible Princess. That couldnt be anything further from the truth. While Two Hearts could quite possible be "indie" the rest of the album is pure pop bubblegum heaven with some techno sounding songs too. X has a mish mash of musical styles, indie, bubblegum pop, techno, thats why i like it better than Fever. In My Arms surpasses CGYOOMH as the perfect pop song i think. X has song after song of melodies that wont leave your head. And Wow is WOW!!!! Another incredible song. Kylie Minouge.....pop superstar extrodinaire. She's surpassed herself with X. Buy it today.
