Lady Antebellum's self-titled CD showcases their excellent music and there's no doubt that they have very special talent. Hillary Scott, Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood made some incredible songs with country music mixed with both rock, a side dish of pop and even some R&B thrown in for a good effect--and it works! The quality of the sound on this album is excellent and that artwork is very well done.
"Love Don't Live Here" starts the album off with some excellent singing; the music fits in perfectly with the vocals and it makes a strong opening number. They sound great on this song about a man who will not fall again for a woman who left him--and who now suddenly wants him back. "Lookin' for a Good Time" uses guitars and drums to carry a good portion of the music while they sing this to perfection. "Lookin' for a Good Time" is one of those songs that just plain sounds good--and it impresses me a lot. These artists are three of the best we have today!
"All We'd Ever Need" is a song about the emotional aftermath of a breakup; and it's very emotional and poignant. In particular Hillary sings with great sensitivity. The guitars work wonders for this ballad; and for yet another gem listen to "Long Gone" with its strong beat mixed with a wonderful country flavor that I really enjoy. "Long Gone" is definitely a major highlight of this album. "I Run to You" has superb singing while the music complements the lyrics flawlessly; and "Love's Lookin' Good on You" is memorable, to say the least. What a beautiful celebration of a loving relationship! I enjoy listening to this song over and over again.
"Home Is Where The Heart Is" has fine music that makes this tune very good; Lady Antebellum makes this sound so easy but it really wasn't--their talent carries them through every time. "Things People Say" is another emotional ballad about a breakup that sports a lush musical arrangement; this country flavored number just couldn't have been done any better and that's grand.
"Slow Down Sister" has Lady Antebellum squarely in the spotlight; and that's quite all right by me! "Can't Take My Eyes off You" has a wonderful treatment for a song about falling in love after being hurt by someone else; and the album ends very nicely with the trio performing "One Day You Will." "One Day You Will" is another moving ballad and again that country sound really grabs me.
Lady Antebellum turned out a superb album with this self-titled release; it's a must-have for their fans. The group, which has been nominated for two Grammy Awards, has both a new album and a tour all planned out for 2010; catch them in concert if you can! In addition, people just discovering the magical artistry of Lady Antebellum would do well to get this for their music collections.
Lady Antebellum PosterThere has been a buzz in Music City since mid-2006 when Lady Antebellum performed together for the very first time. The trio- comprised of Hillary Scott (vocals), Charles Kelley (vocals), and Dave Haywood (vocals, acoustic guitar, keys)- says their name, "Lady Antebellum," represents a sense of nostalgia found in the songs they sing. "It felt like magic," says Hillary, remembering their first performance together, "We all felt more comfortable onstage together than we ever had alone." A year and a half later, the buzz on Lady Antebellum is as strong as it's ever been, and the rest of the nation will soon discover why. Hillary, Charles, and Dave, three young songwriter-musicians with varied influences and backgrounds, create a sound that is fresh and unique, yet still sounds like something you've known for a long time. The debut single, "Love Don't Live Here," is only the beginning for Lady Antebellum. The "Lady A" buzz is coming...April 15!
