Free Music Notes for Lara FabianFree Music Review: A Great English-Language Debut-A Fabulous Voice! Hit: 5 Stars
The first time I heard "I Will Love Again" on the radio, I thought the voice was that of Celine Dion. Then, a few months later, I saw a singer named Lara Fabian belting out that song, along with "Adagio" on The Donny and Marie Show. The strength of her fiery live performance made me realize that I had to purchase her CD and give the album a listen. To be completly objective, the songs on the album are somewhat mediocre, lyrically and also in terms of production, which leans too closely to Celine-esque power pop. The album is dominated by ballads that showcase the power of Fabian's voice (which almost always is pushed to it's fullest emotive capabilities), but the dance songs, if refreshing, don't seem quite as convincing. Simply put, if these songs were performed by a lesser singer, they'd be bland. But Fabian is no lesser singer, and it is in fact her ablitiy to transcend the material and provide emotional nuances that saves the songs. Her gritty interpretation of "To Love Again" is a highlight, as is her tender rendring of "Broken Vow" and "Love By Grace." Fabian provides maximum emotional drama on both the English and Italian versions of "Adagio," and the 2nd track, "Part of Me" is delivered nicely, featuring a memorable piano and saxaphone musical background that allow Fabian's voice to provide the necessary power to move the song forward. All in all, this is a good English-language debut by a singer who deserves to be listened to on her own terms. Here's hoping the future will bring some more exciting musical risks on her part, but for now, Fabian's self-titled disc is a good, solid introduction to a powerful vocalist.
Free Music Review: Beautiful Singing Hit: 5 Stars
The average review of the album "Lara Fabian" by Lara Fabian is one that describes bland pop songs oversung in a Celine Dion copy cat style. I say NO WAY. What is wrong with a singer who has an amazing vocal capability? Lara Fabian has an amazing voice...period. The songs on her English Language debut are purely pop. However, they are performed with such emotion and such perfection, that it's hard to believe she's only debuting now. Her singing style is similar to Celine Dion. However Lara has her own sound. She attacks the songs with fire hitting the high notes with unbelievable force, pitch and duration. Adagio, the first song, is included in both English and Italian. Both are absolutely stunning. Other high points are "You Are My Heart" , "To Love Again" , "I Will Love Again" and "I am WHo I am". It's true that there are more ballads on the album than uptempo/dance tracks. That's the only downfall. The slower numbers are wonderful, it's just that after a while, you'd like a fast track. Too bad she didn't have a more even distribution. However, if you enjoy vocalists like Celine or Mariah, you'll love Lara. She is a very expressive and creative talent. Check out her BEAUTIFUL french albums...WOW. THe voice carries the songs and touches your heart. This album is a must have for the pop-diva vocalist fan. It is a very solid collection beautifully sung. Each track has the potential to be a hit song. It's rare that an album be so consistent. I'm sure Lara will be a worldwide superstar soon enough with this release.
Free Music Review: The Best Purchase of 2000 Hit: 5 Stars
First things first. I buy tons and tons of CD's every year, and I can honestly say that Lara Fabian's English debut CD, was the best purchase I've made to date this year. Sony should be commended on not only signing this amazing talent, but also hooking her up with top producers and songwriters. It should be noted, that Lara writes a great deal of her music too. I Will Love Again was a great leadoff single, but also a bit misleading to your everyday listener. There are no other "club-ready" dance songs on this disc. However, there are a couple of uptempo songs that pick up the pace of the CD between ballads. It should also be assumed that Sony will remix every single from this CD, to certainly satisfy the dance music lovers who fell in love with Lara through the dance genre. Lara sings her heart out, and as a listener, I found it very hard not to become completely swept away by her vocal emoting. "Adagio", "You Are My Heart," "Love By Grace," and "Broken Vow" are among the best ballads you will hear in pop music...ever! I'm especially fond of "You're Not From Here," a song that's a hybrid of Marc Anthony's "My Baby You," Mariah Carey's "My All," and "No One Knows Who I Am" from Jekyll 'n Hyde. (the first two songs along with "You're Not..." were co-written by Walter Afanasieff). Buy this CD. You won't regret the purchase and it will take you to a better place in your life! Lara, thank you for sharing your music with the USA.
Free Music Review: A labour of love! Hit: 5 Stars
This cd is just great! it will have yr emotions running free from the first track to the last... Lara Fabian's english debut was supervised by such producers as Walter Afanasieff, Pat Leonard and Brian Rawling...she has been able to come out with a product which is heavely AC Top 40-oriented but nevertheless quite multi-layered. You have it all here, from "Adagio" (which is presented both in its English and Italian version as a tribute to her Italian roots - thanks Lara, you make me so proud of being Italian!) - a Queen-styled epic built on the Tommaso Albinoni melody, to the bouncy "I am who I am" and "I will love again", not forgetting such masterpieces as "Love by grace" and "You're not from here", where the beautiful lyrics add up to a great passion from Lara's voice. And if this ain't enough...take a listen to the equally splendid "To love again" or "Broken vow", and you will have the proof this woman ranks up right there with the great Barbra and Celine, where the voice is not used for merely singing but it is used for performing the song out... I never gave a 5 star-rating before, but i am sure her sophomore album will be even better (just for hard-core fans...accordingly to the official Diane Warren site, Lara recorded a couple of her songs titled "Love found me" and "Undivided", which for some reason did not make it on this collection...if my feelings are right, some major surprises are waiting up ahead...). Ottimo lavoro Lara, brava!!!!
Free Music Review: One of the best albums ever Hit: 5 Stars
It's true that this album is also for Celine Dion-Fans but I think it's better than Celiine's records because the lyrics are a lot better and the songs are more emotional but not in a shmalzy way. This is really a CD worth giving a try even if you don't like Pop-ballads also because of Lara Fabian's amazing voice. Adagio: I love it. It's a pretty emotional ballad. Check Jeanette's "Deep in my heart ". It has the same melody but it's not as good. Part of me: Tsis song is about the light within your soul. Really good. Givin up on you: Nice mid-tempo-song. You are my heart: This is a Celine Dion-like ballad. I am who I am: This is a great song with an awesome beat. It's about loving yourself. To love again: Another ballad about a girl who can't get over her lovesickness. You're not from here: This is one of my favourites. About a girl who fell in love with a stranger. Truly great (?) Til I get over you: Another dance song. but it's not similar to "IAWIA" Love by grace: Another sweet ballad. Yeliel: I haven't found out so far what this passionate song is about. Maybe about an inspiring person in her life. I will love again: This dance floor-oriented song has nothing to do with Track six. It was a top 20 hit in Austria. Broken vow: Another great song only with piano, violins and Lara'as magnificent voice. Adagio :(Italian) The english version is a little bit better.
