Free Music Notes for Lara FabianFree Music Review: A stunning debut in the world of English-language pop Hit: 5 Stars
This is Lara Fabian's first album in English and is an astonishing début in the world of anglophone pop. There is little evidence of Lara's roots in French music, with her Italian influences being more apparent, most strikingly in the opening track, the very beautiful "Adagio" - a dramatic ballad based on a classical piece. The Italian version of the song is also included. The album's greatest hit potential is provided by the absolutely stunning "Part Of Me", with an obvious Madonna influence brought by Madonna's own producer, Patrick Leonard. The thirteen tracks span a range of musical styles from sensitive ballads, such as "Love By Grace" and the Streisand-like "Broken Vow", to throbbing dance tracks, such as "I Am Who I Am" and the superb international hit "I Will Love Again". "Lara Fabian" is a magnificent piece of work and sets an extremely high standard as Lara's first English-language offering. There is an obvious parallel with Céline Dion here and if you like Céline, you will love this album.
Free Music Review: Stunning - what music *should* be! Hit: 5 Stars
I first heard Lara Fabian's "Givin' Up On You" when I was doing a summer study in Montreal in 2001. I called the local radio station and explained I was an American visiting and wanted to know who "That singer with the awesome voice was." The programming manager was very polite, and told me I'd better buy Fabian's CD while I was in Montreal because I likely couldn't find it in the States.
Well, 6 years later (7 after this CD debuted) and I see this is one of the best-reviewed CD's to date, and for good reason: this is what music should be. Passionate, soulful, emotional. Every song tells a story, and the music and words match so perfectly that every song is a story in which you can immerse yourself. No sitting there thinking "This is a weak track" - there are always some songs you'll like better than others, but the high level of artistic value is present in every song on this CD.
In my collection of about a thousand CD's, I have less than 10 that I would consider a "Must buy." This is one of those CD's.
Free Music Review: Beautiful Voice and Great Songs! Hit: 5 Stars
I bought this CD.... somewhat on a lark.... just from listening to the brief audio clips here on amazon.com, and I have fallen in love with this album. (Thank you Amazon)As for her voice, she has an amazingly beautiful instrument. I believe I read that she was classically trained, and you can tell. Her musical phrasing is much better than all the other pop diva wanna-bees out there. Yes, her voice is somewhat similiar to Celine's, but it is richer... not as shrill. If you like Celine Dion or Linda Eder, you will like Lara Fabian. The songs and arrangements are great. Some of my favorites are "Adagio", "You're not from here", "Yeliel (My Angel)", "I will Love Again", and "Broken Vow". Everytime I listen to "Broken Vow", I get goose bumps. If you are sick of pop songs that are musically tright, this album is for you. It is full of interesting songs that are very well sung. I may just have to order some of her French albums.
Free Music Review: Sony's newest superstar discovery! Hit: 5 Stars
This one's a keeper folks! Fabian is definitely going to be the superstar of the new millenium, rivaling the status of Celine Dion, Barbra Streisand and Mariah Carey! She came out of nowhere! This CD is top rate material with heartfelt ballads and a few uptempo songs, including the wickedly catchy and dramtic "I Will Love Again". Dramatic is the best word I can think of to describe Fabian's voice, as one moment it will be nothing more than a whisper. The next thing you know she belts out a note with all her force. Amazing! "Adagio" is sung here in English and Italian. She could sing it in pig latin, for all I care - it would still sound great. Her voice is just that good! "I Am What I Am" is also a cool song that could be a hit. I think the fact that Sony is offering a money-back guarantee on this CD says how confident they are that this is their newest superstar discovery. I'm going to have a hard time keeping this CD out of my CD player!
Free Music Review: simply the best artist!!!! Hit: 5 Stars
Lara is, by far the best artist out there - Why? Because she produces, arranges, plays the piano and composes most of her songs - and most importantly, she sings like angels in heaven. She can also sing in more that 4 languages!!!
This self-titled English CD is all you could wish for - passionate, intense, emotional, versatile... Her lyrics are profound and pleasant to the ear. Her vocal range and effortless high notes make her, in my opinion, one of a kind - simply: the best artist. It's a shame she has not conquered the US knowing that she surpasses the talent and professionalism of many new and old artists out there. By the way the song "Broken Vow", number 9, written by her (among others), has probably the most sensitive lyrics I've heard - It may bring tears to your eyes. By the way, I highly recommend any of her live concerts - you'll be absolutely speechless! It will be quite an experience for you to watch her interact with her audience.
