Free Music Notes for Fear of a Black Hat: Original Motion Picture SoundtrackFree Music Review: Wear yo' hat! Hit: 5 Stars
If you haven't seen the movie, do it. If you have seen the movie, this CD gives the missing 2/3 of every song. I defy anyone to listen to this record and not serenade their loved ones with endless renditions of Booty Juice!I don't know what's happened to Rusty Cundeiff (sic?) since his second movie "Sprung," but this movie and soundtrack, which pay tribute to "Spinal Tap" while skewing rap music and record executives, is in the pantheon of greats. Every song is hilarious on its own, and anyone who was near a radio in the '80's or early '90's should get most of the references/gags as well. Forget CB4, this is the movie, and soundtrack, you will enjoy again and again. Sorry this sounded like an ad; I just love this movie!
Free Music Review: The movie is genius, the soundtrack follows in the same vein... Hit: 5 Stars
The songs on this soundtrack are just, well, hilarious and fantastic, except for one, but it's still fantastic.
It's tough to beat "Tone Def", "Tasty Taste" and "Ice Cold" as NWH, a rap group parody to end all rap group parodies, but when you throw in song titles like "Wear Your Hat (Buried and Bald)" and "Grab Yo Stuff" (because they weren't allowed to say [...] on their national television debut), it's pretty fabulous.
Unless you have a problem with swearing or sexual innuendo (and if you do, why are you listening to rap in the first place?), you will thoroughly enjoy this CD.
Free Music Review: Its Impossible to Overrate this CD Hit: 5 Stars
You really need to see this movie. Once you've seen the videos and can understand the beauty of Tasty-Taste ripping on LL Cool J, then you're ready to appreciate this CD. All the songs (even the optional one from the movie's opening that isn't no my copy of the tape) from the movie are here, with a few okay additionals like White Cops of Dope. And, if you were wondering, it comes with the lyrics, so you can impress your friends by busting into 'My Peanuts' at parties. Or, like me, you can keep your coworkers away by doing the same.
Free Music Review: Fear of A Good Review Hit: 5 Stars
I thought I was the only one that got this movie and it's songs. The tracks are very reminicent of the early stages of hip-hop but it's meant to be that way. The lyrics are hilarious and even more so if you have experienced the movie. Once you have seen the movie, this soundtrack is a must. However, the soundtrack is strong enough to stand on it's own even without "A Gangter's Life Ain't fun." You will enjoy it, especially if you grew up listening to hip-hop.
Free Music Review: Hilarious AND Brilliant Hit: 5 Stars
What makes this CD so great is despite rap being one of my least favorite musical genres, these are really good tunes! They're lyrically hysterical AND they rock! It's a short list of films that can bear repetition. This one does. My copy has survived heavy usage for almost 10(!) years, but the soundtrack has the full versions of the songs. See it, buy it, love it!
