Free Music Notes for Last of the BreedFree Music Review: They've Aged Like Fine Wine Hit: 5 Stars
Willie Nelson's contributions on this CD convinced me to buy it, 'cause, frankly folks, I'm not much of a "country" fan (EXCEPT for Willie's stuff).
But the voices on these guys! Mellow, flowing, convincing, and hitting all the right harmonies, at all the right times.
I've heard Haggard and Price in the past of course (radio), but never purchased anything of theirs until this CD w/Nelson. Glad I did!
Disc one has the GREAT "Some Other World" (which I seem to be addicted to playing), and Disc 2 has "That Silver Haired Daddy of Mine" and also "Sweet Memories" (these two are the pick of the crop for me). Ah, the sound!
Go ahead and give this CD a try. Even if, like me, you're not the biggest fan of pure country, you'll find these guys have voices that'll convince you to listen long, stay awhile, and maybe even search out some of their older work.
Free Music Review: THIS IS REAL COUNTRY MUSIC Hit: 5 Stars
I Have always enjoyed the music from each of these individuals. This compilation of songs and colloboration by these super stars just blows mw away. If you like true country, you have to own this C D set. The music selection is awesome and, the mixture of these great entertainers voices is superb. I just can't say enough about this album. Country music of today has become so commercial that I get tired of hearing it but this 'True To Country' album is a breath of fresh air. Really refreshing. If you like the voices and/or songs of any one of these three great artists, you'll love this album. God help us when they are no longer with us. At least, we'll still have their music and this is one of the best. This is by far, the best C D I've purchased in 35 years. By all means buy, and enjoy, The Last Of The Breed.

Free Music Review: Superb classic country Hit: 5 Stars
Shades of Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys!!! When I first put this disc on and began to play it, I had to take a double-take at the CD cover liner notes. I thought I had put a classic disc on by mistake. I'm so glad that it wasn't Bob Wills (though I love him--in a platonic way), but was three of my favorite artists doing country music the way it ought to be. If you like "bubble-gum" country, as is done too often nowadays, you won't care for this disc. But, if you can appreciate country the way it used to be, you'll love this 2-disc set. (I don't care how many discs it's on; I'm just glad to have all the songs presented here.) Take a listen to the sample cuts available here, and decide for yourself.
Free Music Review: Last of the Breed Hit: 5 Stars
An outstanding album by three men who are indeed, the "Last of the Breed".Ray Price is particularly impressive, when at 82 he can still hit those deep base notes that he made so popular 35 years ago. Willie's voice is starting to crack a little, but his guitar playing is still excellent. Merle Haggard has lost some of the outlaw approach he had and has mellowed enough to have improved in singing and personality. Back up by the Cherokee Cowboys, Asleep at The Wheel, and excellent support by Micky Raphael on the harmonica and others are simply supurb.
Free Music Review: Last of the Breed--Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Ray Price Hit: 5 Stars
Willie Nelson probably had the idea for this excellent country album set--two CD's--and the tour by the same name, so he seems to get the credit in many listings for the CD set (and the tour). This is the same for multiple authors of books--the book is usually referred to by the first author's name. However. all three do incredible jobs, and these guys are truly the last of the breed. And they don't necessarily sing their own hits but sing many vintage hits we normally associate with other top artists--country, western, and popular.
