Free Music Review: 2 Many Cooks

Simply put there were too many cooks (producers) stirring Laurnea's pot on this debut. Saadiq and Speech (where's he gone) as well as Omar: its just disjointed. However, there are some nice tracks on here. *Infatuation* is nice in its Prince-like nastiness. *Today* is slow and dreamy. *Have You Ever Been* is aight, but its a bit preachy (thanks 2 Speech) and the beat while simple is overwrought (woulda sounded better with a more Qtip/Tribe feel), but the message still hums through. Laurnea shines on the last track *Gone* with its almost live jazzy sound. She blows on this one. Used this is a decent buy for those tracks. Hope she, Dionne Farris and few other *where have they gones* find their way and get their groove back soon.
