Free Music Notes for The Best of Lawrence WelkFree Music Review: My introduction to Lawrence Welk Hit: 5 Stars
Think is was 'round '98 or '97 at the time when I got introduced to him while watching several parts of his show THE LAWRENCE WELK SHOW and it's pretty amazing that I watched that to this day. He sure got talent. I can't wait to hear more from him by looking into his albums and stuff. He's such a genius. Not to say he's the best, but also the baddest composer/musician/arranger/conductor/music maker 'round in history. Just like Quincy Jones, Henry Mancini, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, etc. were the baddest playas 'round there who made a way of bringin' back our music that still rocks today. Definitely a must.
Free Music Review: Wunnerful, Wunnerful! Hit: 5 Stars
I have thoroughly enjoyed listening to this album. Many of the songs such as Tie a "Yellow Ribbon" and "Raindrops Keep Fallin" are done in instrumental form which is preferable to some of the previous versions including lyrics. This album explores some of the many styles with which Welk was so fluent. Even some of the well known hits such as "Love is Blue" are greatly enhanced by that touch of magic accompanied with the light and happy feel that Welk added to every one of his pieces. I have discovered through experience that most non-Welk music is like flat champagne.
Free Music Review: The Maestro of all time Hit: 5 Stars
Unlike most Welk afficionados, I was never a fan of his TV show. A bit too flashy for my down to earth taste. Thankfully, the maestro's music eschewed the flash, always focusing on the substance of the piece and getting deep into the heart of the music. So it goes on this exceptional collection. Does anyone need to hear Tony Orlando spell out the meaning of "Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Old Oak Tree"? Does not the music speak volumes on its own? Sure does, and no one spoke the universal language of music with the fluency of Mr. One ana Two ana Three himself.
Free Music Review: Lawrence Welk Hit: 5 Stars
These cds are always good to listen to. I got into Lawrence Welk by taping the show for my father when he was in the nursing home. His face always lit up when I put in the tape. By taping, I watched to show, and when I played it for my father, I saw the show again, so I got hooked. And why not? You can't beat a professional like Lawrence Welk.
Free Music Review: Real Music Hit: 5 Stars
The most popular shows on public television right now are the rebroadcasts of the old Lawrence Welk Show. That should be enough to convince you to get with the Welk momentum. Timeless arrangements of classic songs. A true American treasure.
