This is an exquisite disc. As interpreted by Reinhard Goebel and Musica Antiqua Köln, the music of Lully and his contemporaries is elegant, powerful, exquisite, refined and even explosive. It is a superlative recording that make me wish that Goebel would record more French Baroque. But this is not their repertoire so grab this one! Get the movie too, its a feast for both eye and ear!
The French term éclatant, which means "brilliant" and "explosive" best describes this astounding recording. Get it!
It ranks near the top of my personal "10 recordings for a deserted island."

This album contains the most astonishing and powerful music I have ever had the pleasure of hearing. Listening to it induces a variety of emotions, with extreme satisfaction prevailing in the end. While I enjoy most other classical music, the sheer length of the compositions goes beyond my attention span, which is precisely what makes this album so perfect - most tracks are between 2 to 4 minutes long. I prize this CD above all others in my collection, (which totals approximately 150, many being classical,) and listen to it on a weekly basis.Free Music Review: Very good music

I love classic music, and I have to admit that this is the best CD you can buy if you like it, too. Music is really great, even if it is music for movie. My favourite is "Les Folies d'Espagne", and I love to listen to it at least 5 times a day... As a long-time fan of Lully's music, I was at first sceptical about music recorded for a movie soundtrack and had fairly low expectations. However, I was extremely impressed by the richness of the recording and the power of the music in this compilation. I heared some Lully's discs, includes Savall, Christine, and now Goebel. I must say I am not dissapointed of Goebel's perform. I feel he fully catch the factors of Lully's music, ex lyric, elegant and ballet dacing.I renew the impressions of Lully since this, to like it more.
