Free Music Notes for The Complete Studio RecordingsFree Music Review: Glorious that just doesn't cut it, Speechless is more like it. Hit: 5 Stars
These guys are the masters, the reigning kings of Hard Rock. Every gem is in this box set. Granduer, awesomeness and epic could be a couple of words to describe this box set, all I've got to say is buy it for your self, it will change your life. There was a time when I lost my job and I had to sell most of my record collection to make ends meet. Out of my whole collection I wouldn't give this up. This set got me through that peroid and also got me through other tough peroids in my life.
This box set chronciles the bands starting, up to its monarch like ascent and then to its fall when Bonzo died. All the albums are here in a 10 Box Set. Dazed and Confused, Ramble On, Misty Mountain Hop, Black Dog, Rock n'Roll, Stairway To Heavan, Achille's Last Stand, Candy Shop Rock, Kashmir, and Ozone Baby all those juicy bits are here a song for each mood. Led Zep's influences are easily seen here, garage rock, psychedelia, progressive, Rockabilly, country and of course the greatest influence the Blues. I often wonder if there is in any truth in the myth the band sold their souls to the Dark One because such mind numbing talent is almost beyond the pale of reality. I'm telling you get this set no music lover will be disapponited. Absolutely Awesome. Has 4 bonus tracks never released "Baby Come On Home", "Travelling Riverside Blues", "White Summer/Black Mountain Side", and "Hey Hey What Can I Do?" all songs in the blues vein and take their place besides the other greats. There is also a book of liner notes written by Cameron Crowe that have bits of interviews with the band and info on some of the songs. All in all this is a must have for any Zep head or person who apperciates good music.
Free Music Review: Zeppelin Heaven! Hit: 5 Stars
Okay, I admit it- I was obsessed with Zeppelin before I bought this set. But that doesn't mean the average guy on the street won't become obsessed after hearing these amazing 10 CDs. They're all here people- from the 1969 debut to Coda, released 2 years after John Bonham's death. I've listened to Zeppelin compilations before, and they really don't do the GREATEST BAND IN HISTORY justice. Zeppelin always believed the ONLY way to listen to their songs was in the context of the entire album. This is completly true. Even though I've heard about half the songs in this set before, they take on new meaning when heard in their original context. Plus, on the practical side, if you lose a CD (pray that you don't!), you can replace it without having to buy the entire set again. You absolutly CANNOT go wrong with Zeppelin! Their songs cover an amazing range of styles, from the blues to jazz to rock to folk and back again. Because of this, no matter what your tastes in music, there is a perfect Zeppelin song for you! Personally, my favorite album is the untitled 4th one (known as the rune album, Zeppelin 4, or ZOSO). Some highlights on this CD are The Battle of Evermore, Misty Mountain Hop, and the immortal Stairway to Heaven. I can't tell you what the "best" songs are, since there are too many to name. However, Kashmir (on the 1st CD of Physical Graffiti) deserves special mention because not only is it an incredible song, but the three living members of Zeppelin all point to it as THE definitive Led Zeppelin song. In conclusion, no matter who who are or what type of music you think you're into, give Zeppelin a chance- you'll definatly be glad you did!
Free Music Review: My Holy Grail of Rock and Roll Hit: 5 Stars
This is the ULTIMATE, supreme collection of the best of the best - COMPLETE with great photos, outstanding musical sound clarity, and if you LOVE Led Zeppelin as I do, this is a MUST BUY, MUST OWN collection.
After over three decades, to have just "some" of the CD's is NOT enough. To have ALL of the CD's is like having the Holy Grail delivered to your door.
Now, I have to download the CD's into my computer so I can upload into the i-pod I don't yet own. If anything was going to get me to buy an i-pod, it's the complete studio recordings of LED ZELLEPIN.
They inspire me more than any other group in the history of rock and roll.
My view on this is that it's much MORE than just owning a bunch of CD's - it's owning ROCK AND ROLL HISTORY. There's a saying "money doesn't buy happiness" - in THIS case, it sure does. Is it worth the money? Oh Yeah!
Whole Lotta Love,

[UPDATE About Packaging]
I honestly don't know WHAT people are talking about with neg reviews because of the packaging of this set. It's boxed PERFECTLY, in a nice, square box, all of the CD's are carefully protected - there's an awesome hard cover book sharing "how" Led Zeppelin came to be, and a lot of personal and wonderful details that any fan would love.
I should have bought this set a long time ago - it's the best MUSIC PACKAGE I've ever owned.
Free Music Review: One Word...Magnificent! Hit: 5 Stars
A previous reviewer nailed it dead on when he said why bother reviewing 10 albums when one review on this magnificent set will do?So many other reviewers have said it far better than I as to regarding this. All I can say is that Lep Zeppelin are as still relevant today as they were back in their heyday. They didn't go through any appreciable decline (example: the Stones in the '90's). When Bonham died, they did it right by calling it quits. Also, Thank God that Jimmy Page has been the guardian of Zeppelin's musical legacy. Their recorded legacy didn't have to suffer through any nonsense (like say, Jimi Hendrix's did when Alan Douglas became the so-called "director" of the estate, a situation which after a long legal battle was thankfully corrected). True, when Atlantic first issued the band's catalogue, the sound was subpar as was the packaging. Page however, was not happy with what Atlantic did and he corrected that. He remastered the entire Led Zeppelin ourve with George Marino, and then issued this beautiful box (thus saving fans much labor and actually some money by buying this). But he wasn't done. In time, Page also released the BBC Sessions, the DVD and the recent live set, How the West Was Won. If any band's musical legacy and reputation has increased one thousand fold since their demise, it's Led Zeppelin's. This is where to start. Like the Rolling Stone Album guide said, "the magic is from the original albums." This is a basic requirement for all Led Zeppelin fans as well as all Rock and Roll fans.
Free Music Review: A TIMELESS MASTERPIECE Hit: 5 Stars
This 1993 box set contains every official studio-recorded song that Led Zeppelin has ever made. And on top of that, 4 extra songs that were not available elsewhere (except on the Box Set Vol. 1 of 1990 and the Box Set Vol. 2 of 1993) were added to the end of disc 10, 'Coda'.
However, Zeppelin has 2 more songs that were not included in this 1993 box set that one could find only on their 'BBC Sessions' album from 1997. Apart from those 2 missing songs, this 1993 box set is as comprehensive as one could get. (It does not have the interpolation of 'Moby Dick' and 'Bonzo's Mantreux', but those are available as two separate songs on this 1993 box set.)
My advice: If you're an ardent Zeppelin fan, or an obsessive completist, or you just got into this great band and would like to own every song they've officially released, then I'd recommend that you get this box set, plus 'How The West Was Won' (which contains longer, different-sounding live recordings of some of their biggest songs), plus 'BBC Sessions' (which contains the 2 songs mentioned above that are not available anywhere else), plus the re-issue of 'The Song Remains The Same' (coming out November '07 and containing 6 extra live versions of songs not included on the original 1976 release).
Trust me, you'll have everything Zeppelin has officially released and you will not have to buy all the other albums that they've released throughout the years. All songs have been digitally remastered and you'll save yourself a lot of money and shelf space.
