Free Music Notes for Lost & FoundFree Music Review: If you think this is somethin' wait till... Hit: 5 Stars
you've see here live. Next time I see Led I'm gonna threaten her to produce a live CD. I love this CD but like I tell anyone who's never seen her live, her CD's DO NOT capture all of her. You must witness this force of nature to fully appreciate what she does, what she teaches.
Anytime I get into a discussion of music her name always comes up and I try to influence those who are not yet fans to become one, but not by buying her CD. By going to her concerts, seeing her live- you'll wan tto run to buy a CD afterward.
You want to see what being in present moment, the power of now and all that jazz is, go see Ledisi perform and you'll feel it. She is a bringer of light, the element of Fire pure and simple.
I'm just blessed to have music like this.
Free Music Review: Musical Perfection for Neo-Soul Lovers Hit: 5 Stars
I've been a fan of Ledisi's since her "Soulsinger" album and was really excited about this current release "Lost and Found". However, I did not get a chance to hear the cd in its entirety until February of this year. A friend of mine burned a copy for me, but I loved it so much that I had to purchase my own personal cd.
Quite frankly, there isn't a bad song on the whole album, but if I were to choose a favorite it would be "Joy". It is a feel good song and you can't help but crank it up when listening.
In my opinion, this is the best soul album that I've heard since Maxwell's "Urban Hang Suite". It is was almost impossible to use the skip function on that cd and such is the case with "Lost and Found". You will not be disappointed.
Free Music Review: LOVE HER!!!! Hit: 5 Stars
All I can say is Ledisi is a talented woman that has been overlooked too long in this industry of computer enhanced #^u%*. I'm glad a major label picked her up but now we need her on the air. Let see How long that will take.
If there is anything called the Oakland sound, Ledisi and her band are it.
This stands out on the songs on this CD with the eclectic jazz tinged selections like Upside Down, Today and the heavy bass thumping Been Here (Intro and Outro). Her birthplace "Nawleans" comes out in her accent when she sings and talks that southern energy and hospitality.
I've seen her live a few times and her voice and ernergy are so powerful and uplifting. No big hip hop dance act but she is all over the stage making you FEEL HER!
Free Music Review: Simply Amazing Hit: 5 Stars
My review title basically says it all. Also, I recently watched "The Bridge" on AOL Black Voices with her and Chaka Khan and was just blown away. This girl is the truth. What a voice and such a wonderful presence. Earlier this summer, she was on the radio here in NYC and when she sung acapella, I was like "yeah, she's about the business" :). Unfortunately, I missed her performance that evening at South Street Seaport but her song "Alright" stays in rotation on the radio and I knew I had to get her CD. I just purchased it Monday (11/5) that just passed and I am so glad that I did. Simply amazing.
Free Music Review: Two Words--Pure Bliss Hit: 5 Stars
This album is so beautiful it reminds you of what love is all about. Ledisi's voice is a force of nature and she instills in her listener the passion she is trying to convey in that particular song.
I have heard her voice many times, but I was listening to XM Radio and In the Morning came on. In my morning rush to drop off the kids and try to beat traffic in to the office, she gave me the most beautiful pause. And as her voice floated up and down the musical scale, I knew I had to get the CD.
Go ahead and pick this up. You will not regret it!
