This album changed Lee Ann Womack's career forever. The title track become a crossover hit, and hit #1 on various formats. The song resonated with listeners. While it's a strong track, there's so much else here to enjoy. The album opens with the beautiful "Healing Kind", with great harmonies and music. "Ashes By Now" is a wonderful song and Lee Ann did a great job with it. Some of my favorites include her cover of Julie Miller's "I Know Why The River Runs", as well as ballads like "Why They Call It Falling", "Stronger Than I Am", to name a few. There's not one bad song in this bunch, it's a strong collection throughout. Yes believe the hype, because it's true, this is truly a remarkable album.
Free Music Review: a beautiful cd Hit: 5 Stars
i think Womacks Cd "i hope you dance" is a beautiful and serene(sp?) cd!! the songs are so amazing, i love her vocals on it, is even better then the 2 first cds she made. i love the opening song, "The Healing Kind", and track 2 "I hope You Dance"... a good way to open this cd, then she just continues making this Cd fantastic with the next songs... and all the way through.... i feel that this is a very well done album, and she keeps it stylishly and by that i mean, all the songs have a natural belonging together on the same album, with out being boring., In stead it's a cd that is a good ear companion in alot of situatuon, and that you can put on on a blue day, or when you want to relax. a great cd to make your cd collection even better
Free Music Review: The Next Big Thing Hit: 5 Stars
With I Hope You Dance, Lee Ann Womack should firmly claim her place in country music as one of the most talented, and important, artists in the format, male or female. Her first two albums were both absolute gems, both containing the right mix of traditional and modern country, without ever sounding too slick, manufactured, or "pop". I Hope You Dance continues along this path, eliciting great songs from the likes of Julie and Buddy Miller, and Rodney Crowell. The title track is possibly the finest song that she's ever recorded, and is by far the finest record to saturate country radio in a LONG time. With the success of that single, hopefully she can maintain the momentum, and continue her ascent to the top.
Free Music Review: Lee Ann Womack Hit: 5 Stars
I take country music on a case-by-case basis. That is to say, while I am not a rabid fan and won't listen to every single CD that comes out, I will occasionally reach into the mines of country music art to enjoy some of its gems. I was very happy to find this album by Lee Ann Womack. "I Hope You Dance" is a great song, and there are many others that unfortunately did not get much air time on mainstream radio. The first track "The Healing Kind" is excellent, a very real song. I also liked "I Know Why the River Runs" and "Why They Call It Falling" very much. I liked the speed of the tracks: not too slow, not too fast, and the lyrics are very real and to the point. Get this album.
Free Music Review: Voice of an angel Hit: 5 Stars
Lee Ann is without a doubt the best country singer heard on the radio today. Her new cd is excellent, every song is beautifully crafted. Her voice is so clear and the arrangments and orchestrations take me away everytime I play it at work and at home. My favs are; Ashes by now, Stronger than I am, I hope you dance, The healing kind, Thinkin' with my heart again, Lonely too, Lord I hope this day is good. My vote is for her to win best country female vocalist. I've loved this woman since I first heard her on the radio when I was vacationing in Palm Springs, the song was "The Fool". Ever since I have all three of her CD'S. She just keeps getting better!
