Free Music Review: Sweet
Hit: 4 Stars

I was tempted after just one listen of "The Staunton Lick" to see if the rest of the album is any good. It is. That track's hummable, upbeat jangle is not indicative of the rest of the record, but it'll still bring a smile to your face. This London duo take the chill out of chill-out and raise the temperature a few degrees. Woozy melodies bathed in day-glo colours (check out the gorgeous CD artwork!) are blended with some psychedelic sounds with some nice driving bass lines that don't wrack your nerves. There's inventive and novel use of some weird samples, such as a relaxation tape and a guitar tutorial (which works as a very nice segue to "The Staunton Lick"). "His Majesty King Raam" has a melody that would not be out of place on the next Disney film. Not all of the songs are great, but there's enough here to make it worthwhile. While it definitely leans towards the kitschy and corny side, it's all in the name of fun.

Free Music Review: a good album
Hit: 4 Stars

This album was just kind of a leap in the dark when I downloaded it, but it's very good. I can't really remember any of the songs in particular that have stuck with me other than maybe "One Page" but they did a good job in synthesizing it. It is a very calm and "grooving" type album and should not be taken too seriously. It isn't hard in any way, though some of the songs are a bit unusual, like someone talking a bit, and then the beat comes in, but I suppose it should almost be expected. I don't know anything about the artist(s) so I can't comment there, but I think this album is very good, and should at least be tried.

Free Music Review: Good till the end

Even when they sample the faraway reports of American astronauts or a Russian choir there is something in the flavour of Lemon Jelly (Nick Franglen and Fred Deakin) that is quirkily English. Here, as some boffin belts out on Lost Horizons, their second album, "All the ducks are swimming in the water, faldaralderaldo, faldaralderaldo." If this album were an armchair, it would be orange and inflatable. There is nothing exceptional about Lemon Jelly's folky electronica; it doesn't so much push boundaries as graze happily inside them. But it does so beautifully, with a loopy glee that will get you in the end

I bought this CD in Dublin, IR a couple of days back and like it a lot. One of the tracks was being played in an Internet Cafe and that sold me. Unfortunately for me I paid 21.50 Euros or nearly $30 US so the hit was pretty high, especially considering what I could have bought it for on Amazon. On the other hand I like it and I wasn't sure I'd be able to get it here in the states. I expect I'll buy their other cuts. Should I mention I'm 65? Sorry kids, that's the way it is....

Free Music Review: A flight to paradise !
Hit: 4 Stars

Not well known by the public, Lemon Jelly created a new album charming and seems to sound like easy listening music. Actually this release is dreaming and given to everybody a deep quite. Don't forget the cover which is psychedelic'shaped. Track 3 " Tune for jack" is the most mad song of this release.I took off when I heard some songs like "Homage to patagonia" that help us to be relax. One of the best easy listening sounds of the year.
