I thought Lemon Jelly would have a hard time topping themselves after the brilliant lemonjelly.ky... should have known better! This album is at least as good as the debut, and in many ways better: it feels more coherent, for instance (kind of obvious, as the previous album consisted of three individual EPs). I'm yet to see any Lemon Jelly releases in record stores where I live (except for the "Space Walk" single) and it's a pity really, because this duo really ought to get more attention! My favorites for this album are "Return to Patagonia", "Nice Weather For Ducks" and "The Curse of Ka'Zar".Oh, and if you get a chance, get the DVD edition of "Nice Weather For Ducks" - the psychedelic music video is stunning.

Let's face it... if Zero 7 and Orbital had a love child, its name would be Lemon Jelly. I've seen other reviewers draw comparisons to other bands, but from my musical tastes, this is my first cut at how I would describe them.This CD is extremely innovative yet still manages to be very accessible. It is upbeat and thoughtful, without being overbearing. It leaves a good taste in your mouth, and makes you want to come back for more. I have not yet heard their first album, ky, but I will certainly be picking it up very soon. If you like electronica, jazz or just music in general, you will seriously enjoy this album.
This is the type of CD that you can listen to over and over again, and you will.

Wow.Every now and then, just when you think that everything has already been done and there is nothing fresh about modern music, you get something like this. It's playful, ethereal, dream-like, and a bit sinister when it wants to be (what exactly WAS "Experiment Number Six"?).
A FAIR WARNING: "Nice Weather For Ducks" should not be played more than three times in a 12 hour period, because it WILL GET STUCK IN YOUR HEAD and EMBARRASS you at the wrong time. And for some reason, "Closer" just caught me in the right place at the right time. So beautiful.
Did I mention they designed the artwork and the gorgeous tri-fold CD case the disc comes in?
Free Music Review: more than just background noise

This is one of the better downtempo/chillout albums I have heard. It's more than just a beat with some kind of repetitive mellow sound/vocal on top of it. These are catchy melodies (and sometimes spoken word story lines) that are quality songs. In other words, you can listen to them in the background, like most chillout music, or you can go a little deeper and listen to them as you would any other song.
Not everything on this album is a 5-star song, but there are enough of them that I'll give the entire album 5-stars. It is very creative and also HAPPY. It's a fun listen and is something you'll want to check out again and again.
