Free Music Review: FANTASTIC MIX!! NICE SURPRISE FROM FRED...

First off, as mentioned before, this is not a new Lemon Jelly album. Simply put, this is a compilation consisting of choice cuts from Fred Deakin's record collection. I wish I had a collection like this!! Lots of different stuff here, ranging from old-school rap, house, drum n' bass, folk, whatever... you name it, it's here. Definitely a departure from their usual material, but a testament to their influences. If you're curious to know where they get their ideas and inspiration from, this mix is a hands-down must-have. The best part of the package is the insert, in which Fred gives insight to each and every track on the album, mainly in how or why he picked that particular track and what it means to him. If you're looking for an eclectic mix for your collection, one that contains a little bit of everything, look no further!!

The Triptych Poster

Absolutely amazing and eclectic three CD collection, lovingly compiled and mixed by Fred Deakin, one half of Lemon Jelly (and founder of the design company Airside). The Triptych consists of 90 tracks lovingly mined from Fred's vast record collection and then mixed to perfection over three discs for your listening pleasure. The design of the limited edition clamshell box set is all by Fred and it includes a 20 page booklet with a note from Fred on why he chose every single track on the album. Like any serious music collector, Fred's tastes are varied and this triple disc set features a great variety of artists including XTC, Tim Hardin, The Isley Brothers, Madness, Rick James, Spirit, Cornershop, Miriam Makeeba, The Selecter, Pete Seeger, Steve Miller, The Rutles, Kenny Rankin, The Durutti Column, Michael Nesmith, George Michael, Kurtis Blow, Jesus & Mary Chain, Thin Lizzy, Bob Wills and many more.
