Free Music Notes for 5 (REISSUED WITH 2 BONUS TRACKS)Free Music Review: 5 stars for 5!!! Hit: 5 Stars
Last Week, I bought Lenny Kravitz's new CD thinking that all of the songs would be like Fly Away or American Women, the 2 best tracks on the album. I was happily surprised at the variety of his songs. I liked the rock/techno/soul combination on the album. I do feel sorry for the Kravitz fans though who bought the original alum without the 2 bonus tracks. If you do not have the version of 5 with American Women on it, don't shell out the extra 13-18 bucks for it. Either buy the Austin Powers 2 soundtrack or tape record the song when it comes on the radio.
Free Music Review: American Woman makes it all worthwhile Hit: 5 Stars
I bought this cd for "Fly Away" and realized after it got home that American Woman had been added - it made me a Lenny Kravitz fan and it's perfect for those times when you just wanna blast something. Some of the other songs are pretty amazing too - he's got some deeper stuff alongside with the pop-type stuff, and it's all the work of a great musician who I wouldn't have noticed without this album. Fly Away and Woman are the two greats here, but you're missing the rest if you don't have it...unlike a lot of CD's now there is a rest to miss!
Free Music Review: originality is good Hit: 5 Stars
i love this record. it is stupid to reissue it with the 2 'bonus' tracks. american woman is the WORST remake i've ever heard, and i love lenny kravitz. it's just a bad remake of a mediocre song. that aside, the strength of this album is the non-traditional rock laced with mild electronic eclectic sounds, such as on 'if you can't say no' and 'black velveteen,' the two best and most original tracks on the album. i just hope lenny doesn't sell out and instead continues to be more original with future releases. i am praying for no more 'american women.'
Free Music Review: Different in a good way Hit: 5 Stars
Lenny Kravitz's fifth CD is very different from his previous four, but it's not a bad thing. He experiments with more digital instruments, and lots of the beats are good for party music. Some notable tracks are: Supersoulfighter, Black Velveteen, Fly Away, Straight Cold Player, Little Girl's Eyes, and American Woman. I didn't really expect this CD to be as good as the first four, but I was wrong. This is my favorite Lenny CD so far. The songs are more funky than his previous ones, and if you buy this album you won't regret it.
Free Music Review: FUNKY!!! Hit: 5 Stars
I'm not exactly Lenny Kravitz's biggest fan, but after hearing "Fly Away" on the radio I had to get this album. Hard songs, soft songs, they all have that funky beat to them that just makes you want to get up and dance, no matter what kind of a mood you're in. He even managed to give "American Woman" a little spice! This album proves that Kravitz is a super talented musician. His voice suits each and every song, and he's an awsome guitar player too! I recommend this album to anybody, it's a real cheer-up party album.
