Free Music Notes for Baptism

Free Music Review: Worth Buying
Hit: 4 Stars

I must say that i am a big Lenny Kravitz fan.

When i first listened to it i didn't like it much bu then by time you'll like it a lot. I cant stay without i absolutely love it. Baptism is a good album and i think that it is one of his best albums. "Minister of Rock n Roll", "Where are we Runnin", "Storm" and "Baptized" are very good songs. The other songs are also good songs. I believe that Lenny has done a good job here, as he always writes songs depending on what he is passing through, and that is nice. Lenny has a great voice and no one must discuss that he is also one of the most talented musicians now a days. This album should be in everyones collection of CDs. Personally i still prefer 5 but Lenny still did not let me down here, the more i hear it the more i like it. Its either cause i like Lenny or cause he is a great singer and musician. The choice is up to you.

Free Music Review: I really like it!
Hit: 4 Stars

I do see what the initial response to this new album is. I am a BIG Lenny fan dating back to 1989. I honestly enjoy this much more than the last two albums. While I do agree that this sadly does not compare with the first four albums Lenny released (Let Love Rule through Circus) this one certainly outshines the last two.

The problem is that many people are comparing this release to his early releases. Lenny has a different sound now than he did earlier in his career. I don't think that it is a bad sound at all, just somewhat different.

The first five songs here are absolutely outstanding. I do admit that some of the others are hit & miss, but some others are still good. Some will like this, others will not. At least give it a chance - maybe you will feel the same way that I do.

Free Music Review: Rising again
Hit: 4 Stars

I don't know what happened to Lenny lately, but since 5 something has changed for sure. "Lenny" should have never been released. I decided I was never gonna buy another of his records, but after thinking of what he did in the past, I've given up and bought Baptism, and it's better than I'd thought.
Amazing lyrics on most of the songs and good songwriting too, seems like he's rising again. My fave song is calling all angels. But let me tell you something Lenny, leave the control over the lead guitar to Craig!! I Hope one of these days you'll find the road back home man, and release Mama Said the sequel.

Free Music Review: Not as bad as they say...
Hit: 4 Stars

When I first bought this album I was ready to write it off, but after repeated listenings I can say that it is one of my favorite albums of 2004. A couple of these songs are duds, namely "Minister of Rock 'N Roll" and "I Don't Want To Be A Star," but the rest, especially the ballads and the hit "Lady," are top quality material, and I am really enjoying Lenny's actual singing voice (esp. on "What Did I Do With My Life"). A lot of people wrote this disc off, and don't like the ballads, but, unexpectedly, I am finding myself listening to this album over and over again.

Free Music Review: What's with the Hendrix comparisons?
Hit: 4 Stars

Baptism is an excellent effort. No, not goundbreaking but good solid rock. Sure it's been done before, but really good rock is still hard to find. Why the Hendrix comparisons? It doesn't make any sense. Hendrix was a virtuoso way ahead of his time. Kravitz has always been retro - ON PURPOSE - and he does it better than anyone. He practically channels the 70's rock/funk groove. If you want it authentic, buy the Sly and the Family Stone catalog. If you want guitar supremacy, buy Hendrix. If you want a fan's love letter to both, buy Baptism
