Free Music Review: Better than Baptism, but not his best

I have been a fan since of Lenny's since the beginning. I had a friend who saw him at a small club when he was just starting out and she raved about him. I went out and bought "Let Love Rule" and was hooked! I was a fan of every album up until "Baptism." Each album showed growth as an artist and always raw emotion. "Love Revolution" in my opinion does not show a long time fan like myself anything new. I am especially puzzled by the lyrics, because they are so simple my 7 year old could have written some. I can't listen to "the coffee was hot but the milk is sour" without laughing. And again, I am a long-time fan, never thought I'd be writing anything negative about Lenny. There are some high points on the album and he is a great musician, so I gave it three stars. Still a fan, just not of this album.Free Music Review: Lenny Kravitz: Slight Return

For anyone who has been a fan of Lenny Kravitz from his first album, "Let Love Rule", this will indeed be a "slight return" to his
old form. Several tracks, including "Love Revolution", "Bring It On" and "Love Love Love" remind me of the feel of Lenny's earlier work.
However, there are also several tracks that feel forced, and almost
silly in their simplicity ("I Love The Rain" and "Back In Vietnam").
After Lenny's recent "pop" successes, I take comfort in the
fact that the Lenny I first became a fan of is still in there somewhere,
writing songs.

There's nothing all that great, or all that bad about "It Is Time for A Love Revolution" really. It's got the type of funky rock and just better than average Kravitz lyrics that we're all familiar with, thus the 3 stars. He's basically good. But there's nothing that stands out as especially new or interesting about the music either. There's no commercial hit, or underground best-kept-secret quality song on it. If you're a fan, it's nice to have more. If you're not, you won't become one.Free Music Review: lenny's new rev

this was my first purchase of anything lenny kravitz (or any rock artist for that matter) and overall it is a nice, easy listening/flowing cd and i made this purchase after hearing him sing one tune from the cd on "good morning america"....very uncommon for a longtime r&b listener.Free Music Review: very good!
