Free Music Notes for Mama Said

Free Music Review: Lenny is so hot! But anyway...B-
Hit: 4 Stars

This collection is hit after hit after hit (with about 2 1/2 slight misses). Lenny wrote the entire album save for Fields of Joy and the reprise version of said song.

I'm not totally into classic rock at all and we all know that's mainly Lenny's forte but this CD is a keeper. I bought it a couple of years ago at a supermarket and have listened to it a couple of times.

I'm actually listening to it now and getting ready to put all of the tracks onto my iPod because all I have is It Ain't Over....

So basically, if you like Lenny's music, this CD is probably a must-have. You shouldn't be skipping around too much with this album.

4 stars = B-

Free Music Review: My favorite of his.
Hit: 4 Stars

As much as I really loved his debut, and really every album since, this is easily the one I like most. Front to back it's just excellent, and includes a good split between the hard rockers, and the soft ballads. The hits from this were "Always On The Run" and "It Ain't Over 'Til It's Over", but I like some of the others just as much. "Difference Is Why" has a cool guitar effect, and "What The F*** Are We Saying" is completely sweet as well. I also like the last track "Butterfly", which is a short love song, and one that I've put on many mixed-tapes. Though I think Lenny could do it, I think this one will be hard for him to top.

Free Music Review: Lenny Kravitz is just cool!
Hit: 4 Stars

Lenny Kravitz, Slash and Sean Lennon on one album? This must be the best album of all times! Well, not the best but at least one of the best in funk-rock. the CD starts with the furious "Fields of Joy" (Lenny plays with Slash), then two other highlights follow ("Always on the run" and "It ain't over till it's over). The album would be perfect if it wasn't too slushy sometimes. But everyone who buys it can be sure that he doesn't squander the money because "Mama Said" is another cool CD by a genious and unique man!

Free Music Review: Probably his best
Hit: 4 Stars

This album has an absolutely fantastic first side which in retrospect makes the case as one of the better major rock entries of the 90's...only one year in. Any startlingly honed momentum like that is hard-pressed to maintain and MS is no exception, with a few consciously underdeveloped songs near the conclusion ratcheting the premium retro rocker down a notch, from completely classic to compellingly classy.

Free Music Review: the greatest heartbreak album ever
Hit: 4 Stars

Yes, it's sappy; Yes, Lenny could have avoided the whole problem if he had just kept it in his pants. in the first place But you know what? It's still the most pure, heartwrenching, soul-searching exploration of "oh my gosh, I screwed up and I am so heartbroken" that could ever be. Leave it in your CD player for at least a month.
