Free Music Review: Feel the Spirit!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

Leona Lewis is a breath of fresh air! In a day and age of "off-the- assembly-line, cliched and completely irrelevant hip-hop" chart dominance, this songbird is a welcome addition to the radio airwaves. A talented singer with a beautiful voice--what a novel idea!

Lewis, the winner of The X-Factor, Britain's version of Idol, has stormed the rest of the world, with her lead single becoming # 1 in several countries and the cd becoming the biggest selling debut in Britain's history. Now, she is set to invade the states and, after listening to her first effort, I am thoroughly convinced she will conquer us all!

The first single, "Bleeding Love", is a beautiful song, immediately pleasing to the ear and a song you will find yourself singing along to each time you hear it. The second track, "Better in Time", is probably my favorite song off the new cd. I'm hoping she releases it as a single in the future. Other worthy offerings from this debut effort are "I Will Be" and "I'm You"--both strong ballads giving Lewis the chance to show off her amazing singing range. A couple of more upbeat tunes "Forgive Me" and "Misses Glass" are also great songs that could get lots of air play. Lewis also tackles the Roberta Flack classic "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face", with impressive results. "Take a Bow" sings of hurt by an uncaring and untrue lover, much like Rhianna's newest single of the same name but with much less venom-filled lyrics (Rhianna sings of her lover: "you are so dumb" and "you are so ugly when you cry"--lovely lyrics, don't you think?) Also included with this set of songs are two UK bonus tracks, "Footprints in the Sand" and "Here I Am".

Lewis who, because of her vocal range, is being compared to powerhouse vocalist, Mariah Carey. I hope that she, unlike Carey, remains true to her fans and focuses on good songs and singing and doesn't feel the need that Carey does to include the likes of O. B. D. and T-Pain into her singles, interjecting unnecessary rap elements to appease the record companies or appeal to top 40 radio. I also recommend two songs that are not on this version of her cd. The songs called "You Bring Me Down" and "The Best You Never Had" are great tracks that can be downloaded (on pay sites of course!) and will please any Leona Lewis fan! This is a really good pop cd and I highly recommended it!

Free Music Review: Best Newcomer Voice of 2008 !!
Hit: 5 Stars

I have been ordering Leona Lewis CD after her advertisement campaign running up and down on the Sky-perfects Fox channel in Japan.

I am writing this review after having listened to it for 3 months in a row but it still feels like on the first day.

This CD is a mainstream melancholy type production. All songs are easily listening type songs that you can run in the background when driving, traveling, waiting on the airport, in your favourite cafe, bar etc.

At first I liked the fresh energetic voice, but when you listen to the CD you realize quickly that there is more to it. Every time you listen to it you discover a different aspect of it.

I believe Leona Lewis has what it takes. She can sing a variety of songs slow, fast, loud, soft, sexy .... you name it, she can do the whole variety without being bitchy or cheap.

In this aspect I do respect also that the cover pictures are not looking like you buy a mens magazine.

Leona Lewis has the main ingredients, a clear voice, the vibration, a talent to stress the small tones and a wide spectrum.

This is the first album I have heard from her. I think its actually show casing a good range of melancholic styled songs - and more important and again - she has the voice for it. ;-)

Many people will like the CD for a simple reason - Listening to it is enjoyable and relaxing.
I have heard from people who have it running in the background while creating flower arrangements.

Last but not least this is also one of the few CD's my wive and me both like without exception - consider THAT a real achievement ;-)

You might argue that the song arrangements itself seem at times like fail-save versions for the mainstream market but I believe that is just because she hasnt found herself yet and is testing her ground. Nevertheless the voice is terrific !!

I wish that in her next production she is willing to take a calculated risk for an even better refined Leona Lewis style.

One "problem" I am facing already with this CD is that it is regularly gone to friends places and I actually have to go for it to get it back.
So that means, it cant be that bad. ;-)

So how about Lenoa Lewis you are asking ? ... for me anytime again !!

Free Music Review: A gifted singer that can't and shouldn't be compared!
Hit: 5 Stars

First of all, why do we need to compare singers/artists? Every singer has her/his gift and quality that makes her/him unique. There's too much comparison with Mariah Carey. There is only One Mariah and there hasn't been anyone even close to her Vocal prowess. That doesn't mean that other singers are less or more, it just that they all fall into different categories. For me there isn't better or worse. It's true that nowadays you don't have to possess a "voice" to sing. We all know who they are, they are not worth mentioning. These talentless souls without singing, crazy enough, is what sells, go figure. All they have to do is sigh, hum, grunt & purr with a bunch of music behind them. How sad, but that's just the way it is. What is the world coming to??????

On a positive "NOTE," there is not a shred of doubt, Leona is a great singer with some awesome vocals, she's been blessed. My hope for her and her producers is that she continues to record "quality" music along with "quality material." Leona is the real deal and I think I have found a new star that I will follow whereever it leads me. I am very passionate about voices and singers, hand in hand, magic occurs. Please stop comparing Leona to our Divas of the day....Leona still has along way to really prove that she has everything to be a Diva. Only time will tell. If she plays her cards right, she will, indeed, become a Diva! Leona Lewis has the "Spirit" to soar very high.........God bless her!

Free Music Review: Simply flawless.
Hit: 5 Stars

I think there are two types of music and singers. The ones that records an album that has 1 or 2 songs that are big hits but only last for a season and the ones that are very talented and their music lasts in time.
Leona Lewis is one of those who last. She easily represents the new generation of big stars such as Mariah Carey or Whitney Houston and I don't mean in the sense of sellling albums, I mean in quality and talent (there are many good singers that ever find big commercial success but sing hundreds of times better than the ones who sell millions). There are MANY of those cases.

This album is a jewel that contains beautiful songs such as "Bleeding love" a song that doesn't need explaination. A truly big hit all over the world.
Then this production has "Better in time", "Angel", "I'm you", "Forgive me" and in my opinion the best one, "I will be".

Listening Leona perform is a true delight, her voice is impeccable and she really is a good performer. I can't really understand why she didn't win any Grammy with this production and even worse. Why she wasn't nominated for best new artist. This is one of the mysteries in music. But she can be really proud of being the only british female singer to have a debut on Billboard's 200 at #1 and the most important thing. She can be proud of her great talent and voice.

Free Music Review: Take A Bow, Leona!
Hit: 5 Stars

Amazing is the first thing that pops into my head as I sit down to write the review for Leona Lewis's debut CD: Spirit. This young woman has a voice beyond anyone's imagination. I bought this CD the day it came out and have not written a review until now because I cannot stop listening to it.

Upon hearing the first single: "Bleeding Love", months ago, I really did not know what to expect out of the full length CD. There is everything from pop, mid tempo jams to powerhouse ballads. I cannot praise Leona's voice, not to mention the songs on this set enough. Every song is sung with such passion and emotion that they all draw you in to that feeling that it was written for/with. All the songs on here are very radio friendly and melody driven.

My 2 favorite songs on this CD that I could play over and over and over and never get sick of are: "Take A Bow" and "Here I Am". "Here I Am" reminds me of a part 2 to Mariah Carey's "Hero". Sang with such flawless vocals and amazing power.

This CD is a must have for anyone's collection. You can tell Leona is a superstar that is going to be around for many, many years to come. This is one of my favorite CD's to be released in 2008!
