Free Music Review: EXCELLANT! WONDERFUL! A "MUST-HAVE"!

For those who remember the LP from the early '70's -- here it is, again! Crisp and clear, an excellant quality CD. (The LP pretty must "got me through" a rocky freshman year in college and then I gave it to some one who seemed to need it even more.) For those who aren't familiar, "Desiderata" offers a "survival guide" for life in the form of ten very renewing songs, beatifully narrated by Les Crane. The opening work and title song, Desiderata, has been the subject of posters and wall-hangings for years largely because it so eloquently states the very basic truths which many of us overlook in the business of everyday life. Also familiar to many, "Children Learn What They Live" is vital food for thought for each and every parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, teacher -- for anyone involved with nurturing and guiding children. This is a real classic; I can't think of anyone who's CD collection wouldn't be improved by the addition of "Desiderata".

Unavailable on CD in the U.S., this is a reissue of Crane's Grammy-winning 1971 album. Similar to & thanks to the popularity of Baz Luhrman's 'Everybody's Free', the spoken word recording is based on a 1927 poem by Max Ehrmann that hippies clung to in the '60s. The rest of the tracks on the long player continue along the same touchy-feely self-help theme, with musical accompaniments varying from Native American vibes to gospel to rock to opera. 12 tracks (though only 10 are actually printed on the CD).Miscellaneous Music CDs
