Free Music Notes for Let Yourself GoFree Music Review: let yourself go Hit: 5 Stars
I had previously considered Kristin Chenoweth to be just a country girl with a big, Broadway belt, but after hearing this album, I was proved wrong. As a fan of jazz, I found Chenoweth's selections to be simply fabulous. From the bubbly opening title track, to the spicy "If", to such classic ballads as "My Funny Valentine", to adorable duets like "Hanging Around With You" (featuring Seinfeld alum Jason Alexander) and the priceless "The Girl in 14G", showcasing Chenoweth's operatic training and scat talent, this album has it all, yet still manages to keep all of the songs roughly in the same era. Chenoweth is an exemplary talent, and I hope this is only the beginning of a fufilling career for her.
Free Music Review: A CD MUST! Hit: 5 Stars
After listening to this CD, most anyone would have to admit at how amazingly talented Kristin Chenoweth is. Listening to all the pieces on her CD (most of which were songs from broadway productions), I can imagine just by listening to Kristin's voice, what would be happening if I were watching the broadway play. It astounds me at how much attention to detail Kristin payed to each song. ('14G'is a great example of Kristin's abilities.) There is some dancing songs, love songs, even blues and part opera songs on this album. I'll admit some of the songs had to grown on me, but it did not take long for them to do so. This CD is a MUST, especially if you love and appreciate broadway and/or are studying voice.
Free Music Review: Kristin Chenoweth is FANTABULOUS! Hit: 5 Stars
Kristin Chenoweth is my idol. This CD is perfect, especially since I am probably the only 14-year-old in my city who listens to Broadway musicals all the time.( I am not 12, by the way..14 just wasn't an option under the "How Old Are You?" category..:) ) Kristin has an amazing voice. She can hit an F above high C. For those of you that don't know, thats pretty high, to say the least. This CD has a ton of great, classic songs that touch your heart. I would highly recommend "Let Yourself Go" to anyone who wants to hear beautiful music, or just someone who wants to broaden their horizon of what they listen to. Believe me, if you buy this CD, you won't regret it; Kristin will blow you away.
Free Music Review: Go, Kristen! Hit: 5 Stars
Kristen Chenoweth is talent personified. A Tony award winner and star of multiple Broadway shows including "Wicked" and the currently-playing revival of "Promises, Promises". This album offers up a nicely done variety of song styles and tempos. A standout is "If You Hadn't", a tongue-twister of a song with tons of words that rhyme with the word "if". She pulls it off brilliantly. "The Girl in 14G" offers up a view of her vocal versatility from jazzy to operatic. Jason Alexander makes a guest appearance and their rapport in "Hanging Around With You" is great. There is not one bad track on this CD, in my opinion. You'll enjoy it and become a fan of miss Chenoweth.
Free Music Review: Fun, old-fashioned entertainment Hit: 5 Stars
Kristin Chenoweth puts loads of personality into everything she sings (and does). This CD is a treat for anyone who likes a bit of Broadway. Some of the songs are upbeat and sassy, some are quiet and beautiful, and many of them tell a story. There's a wide mix of timeless classics, unfamiliar favorites, and new songs that sound like they were made just for her. ("The Girl in 14G" is hilarious, and requires a range of talent that not many people could handle.) The orchestra is first-rate, as is her singing (and her tap-dancing, which you can hear on the first song). The clips don't do it justice--you'll have to buy the CD and enjoy it for yourself.
