Free Music Review: Don't Pass This Up
Hit: 5 Stars

This album is from Levon Helm's roots in Arkansas. Without going into detail about each cut, the total package paints a mural of rural life in the South that will affect you to your bones.

As a bonus, Levon is donating $1 from each CD sold during December to charity; half to the Imus Ranch for Kids With Cancer and half to The Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. By purchasing this CD, you will be doubly blessed with great American music and doing a good deed.

Free Music Review: The Band...........Revisited
Hit: 4 Stars

Levon Helm was the soul of the great Bob Dylan backing band The Band. This album will appeal to folk music fans as well as old-time country music fans. I love Bob Dylan and enjoy The Basement Tapes, etc. If you like The Band and The Basement Tapes, this album will be a welcome nostalgic trip to your 60's past. If you like Americana music in general...this is the album of the year........a must buy!!!

Free Music Review: Twangy
Hit: 3 Stars

Well, I love Levon and everything he does but I must warn the uninitiated that this is the most Arkansas twang music I have heard in a long while. If you like downhome folk music you will probably appreciate this but it is definitely not "The Band".

Free Music Review: Plain old good music
Hit: 4 Stars

Levon's voice has always been unusual, and is now weathered with age, but if you like it you like it. And I like it.

This is a great collection of Americana music, with authentic voice and instruments. The treatment of Steve Earle's "The Mountain" might be the strongest effort on here, but the other songs are strong as well.

Free Music Review: Still the Voice of America, Welcome Back Levon
Hit: 5 Stars

Lord, why did he wait so long? This album is incredible. We are lucky to still have Levon in this bittersweet world, and for that we shoud count our blessings.

This album is full of the organic, rootsy tunes that America was built on. Even though his voice is not what it was in 1969, it is still brimming with character and a truth that is virtually unmatched in roots music.

Here Levon manages to capture the essensce of the music that made The Band stand out during its time and present it in his own current voice.

May there be manny Levon solo album's to come!
