Free Music Notes for I'll Be LightningFree Music Review: Liam Finn's "I'll Be Lightning" bridges the musical generation gap Hit: 5 Stars
Liam Finn has inherited his father and uncle's musical genius. My teenaged daughters have been listening to this CD ever since I bought it on its release date in January. It has some wonderful songs, including the heartrending "Gather to the Chapel," which is a tribute to the late Paul Hester, Crowded House's original drummer. My daughters prefer some of the more uptempo numbers like "Second Chance" and "Wise Man." There's not a bad one on the whole CD, though.
Free Music Review: Incredible Hit: 5 Stars
Having never heard of Mr. Finn until 2 days ago when I spied his CD in a Barnes an Noble under "New and Noteworthy" (or whatever they call it), I had no idea what to expect. This album is, to speak plainly, great! Since my purchase I have listened to it repeatedly and with every listen I become more entranced with each song.
Free Music Review: Fantastic Hit: 5 Stars
Neil Finn's son does him proud. This is the CD of 2008. It's impossible to accurately describe Liam's music. Is it rock? Folk? All I can say is he is a genius and that is not a label I use often. You will be hearing more from Liam of that I am sure.
Free Music Review: Liam is great! Hit: 5 Stars
This CD is awesome and I am sure there will be many more from Liam! I hear these songs on many music tracks now in many stores! I saw him play this live at the HOUSE OF BLUES a few years ago before CROWDED HOUSE and I was blown away!
Free Music Review: Kiwi wonder Hit: 4 Stars
Really liked this album a solid debut from Finn the younger.
At times I felt I was listening to the darker Crowded House period as well as Uncle Tim (Finn)
This isn't a criticism just an observation.
Definitely quirky, sonic pop with great vocals/arrangements.
Enjoy the diversity, weirdness and talent
