Free Music Notes for LifehouseFree Music Review: power pop that is full of pop Hit: 4 StarsThese guys are a little too manufactured and preened for shopping mall teens to get much credibility. What is lost is that they are actually writing great music.
Many of these songs, particularly 'side 2', are straightforward and catchy, with interesting melancholic guitar lines. One thing is there is too much 4/4 writing, making the songs sound alike, as if they were also recorded and produced similarly. I guess this makes it marketable, but washes out some of the unique songs here.
The exuberance of lines like 'we're not gonna live for ever, so tell me is it now or never' and the peppy song going with it, remind me of early U2, who also seemed like they couldnt wait to take over the world. We'll see if these guys can.
Free Music Review: nothing special Hit: 2 StarsWith the exception of the first song (the best and most memorable song on the album )there was nothing that stood out on this album. After the first couple of songs they all seem to just blend in together and your left with nothing that really stands out in your head. Mostly all filler in my book. That is what happens when you have most of the songs done by one writer in the band. It tends to become one dimensional. I have seen and heard better unsigned bands in local clubs than the wasted music this band has been putting out. Unfortunatly my Wife likes them and I have to struggle through a whole show of watching this bland stuff for 2 hours tonight!!!! At least there is a bar there that will make things more interesting.
Free Music Review: Lifehouse Hit: 4 StarsI'm with Amanda. The songs are good (Wade writes awesome lyrics) but I missed the rock 'tude of the previous cds. "You'll Never Know" & "You & Me" are great tunes and I've added them to my playlist.
Free Music Review: An awesome Album Hit: 5 StarsIt's not what I expected out of Lifehouse, but the sound of their music is very well done. I like all the songs in their albums as well as all of the songs from their previous albums. Come Back Down has the tight drum introduction that lures you into the song. You and Me, everybody's favorite song has the tight acoustic guitar introduction that makes the song more powerful. Blind, maybe arguably the best song on the album, could be a number one hit, like "You and Me." "All In All," is a lot like Y&M with the acoustic guitar except it's a power-chord type song. Nothing wrong with that, but excellent none the less. Better Luck Next Time, has the same intensity when you listen to Hanging by a Moment. Days go by is the same song from the movie, "Win a date with Tad Hamilton." The song has changed from a soft sounded type song, to a old-school type song. That makes it so better. Into the Sun, is a slow song where you just want to lie down and relax a bit. Undone, kind of makes you want to run on the treadmill for some odd reason. It gets you pumped up. Hey, it's just my opinion. We'll Never Know, has the tight string introduction and has the Quasimodo type feeling in the song. Walking Away, seems to be a sad song, but a very good song. Chapter One is tight because it has the Piano introduction, very classy. Finally, the end has only begun, it works well as the last song of the album. You'll see why, when you purchase the album.
