Free Music Notes for LifehouseFree Music Review: LifeHouse Hit: 4 StarsIf you like their first CD, you will probably like this one even more. Many bands try to copy their format and sound, however, their voice is unique among copiers.
Free Music Review: Lifehouse Hit: 5 StarsLifehouse is a great band with a unique sound. Their music is different from song to song. This CD is great for long trips to calm you down from the road rage in traffic.
Free Music Review: The only inspired thing about them is their name Hit: 1 StarsThe name Lifehouse would hint at perhaps a Who influence, as it was lifted from a shelved Pete Townshend rock opera. However, the music that Lifehouse produces doesn't even approach that legendary band's lesser period toward the tail end of their careers.
Lifehouse's first album was essentially Creed-lite, which is pretty sad considering how lightweight Creed were themselves. Frontman Jason Wade does his best to bellow and snarl Eddie Vedder-style, but the background music is so docile and toothless that it renders whatever he has to say meaningless. Ditto for the slightly more aggressive follow-up, Stanley Climbfall.
That brings us to the third album, for which they went the self-titled route. That hints at a possible change in direction - however, it definitely wasn't one for the better. Somehow Lifehouse found a way to become even more bland, as this type of music fits seamlessly between Phil Collins and Celine Dion on your local "soft rock" station. The lyrics are the typical treacly love pablum, the songs have the most generic, lifeless arrangements, and the singing provides the perfect bland accompaniment. The single "You And Me" is basically a perfect example about how trite and painful this album is, as it sets the tone for everything else you hear.
In summary: Lifehouse's self-titled album epitomizes everything that is wrong with the music of today. This is the kind of band that wouldn't have even been signed about ten years ago, yet now not only is it getting released (and likely preventing us from actually hearing some decent music), but it flies off the shelves at record stores and people proclaim Lifehouse to be the greatest thing since sliced bread. I recommend that those people look away from the "soft rock" stations that shove this tripe down their throats to find the more challenging music with substance that will definitely have a longer shelf life than this. Expect to find a proliferation of copies of this album going for bargain price within a year or two.
Free Music Review: THIS IS GARBAGE! Hit: 1 StarsEdgy, Alternative? these are some of the words I have seen used when describing this band. People what is wrong with you? First and formost, how can you possibly ignore the fact that the lead singer has one of the most FORCED sounds when he sings that I have ever heard. this has to be the most blatent use of a fake sound ever recorded. And to say that these guys are nothing more than easy listening is a joke! There is nothing edgy or alternative to this in any way. It's pure cookie cutter with a Tiger Beat pin-up lead singer. If you actually listen and compare this music with the thousands of miles of tape used up by hundreds of other bands just like them, you would see this. But as the corporate thieves have discovered, all you have to do is find a pretty face and hope that he can hold a note. Plus put together 3 more less attractive guys to fill out the band. This way the masses don't pay attention to the actual music. Because as we all know if that happens people will just turn this sh*t off.
Free Music Review: WOW Hit: 5 StarsI bought Lifehouse's first CD(No Name Face) back in '01 and it was decent. The hit single, "Hanging by a Moment" was most definitely the best track on it. It had a different sound to it that I just wasn't in to. Then came "Stanley Climbfall". I think I heard the single "Spinning" once on the radio and they stopped playing it. I figured if that was their first single then the rest of the CD wouldn't be worth my 15 bucks. Then came their self titled third album, "Lifehouse". The first single "You and Me" was very good(no Hanging by a Moment, but good). It blew me away the first time I listened to it.
This is a much softer Lifehouse. It's definitely one of those CD's that you can push play and just listen all the way through(w/ the exception of track 11). A couple of the standouts are "Blind"(the second single), "Come Back Down", "All in All", but my personal favorite on this CD is "We'll Never Know". I'm sure that "We'll Never Know" will eventually be a single. It's certainly got that radio friendly sound to it.
Lifehouse has definitely hit a home run with this one. If you liked "No Name Face" or "Stanley Climbfall"(probably just you die-hards) then you'll love this one. It's a slower sound to Lifehouse but not to the point where it will put you to sleep.
