Free Music Notes for No Name FaceFree Music Review: Impressive debut album! Hit: 5 Stars
I had heard Hanging by a Moment a few times on the radio, and really liked what I heard - but hadn't thought to buy the album. Then, on the way to work, I heard a live, acoustic, version of the song, and ran to the store on lunch to buy the album. I was not disapointed in the least, and was upset that I hadn't bought it earlier. This is one of the best albums in my 1,500+ cd collection, and one that I still listen to quite a bit. The music is amazing, and the emotional depth of the album is impressive - especially considering the youth of the band memers. At first listen, you may not realize that this is a Christian band, and that the songs are religious. The beauty of the album, and the songwriting, is that you can take each song so many different ways and relate them to your own life - either religiously or otherwise. Hanging by a Moment is a perfect example. I caught an interview with the band, where they talked about the great responses they have recieved on the road from fans talking about how the song helped them with thier relationships. They said they really appreciated the stories, and that they liked the fact that everyone could pull something different out of the songs, since the song was written about religion. The entire album is that way. While if you listen for it, you can hear the religious aspects, but they aren't overbearing. I usually try to point out the high points, and the low point(s) of an album when reviewing it. That can't be done with this album. The entire album is a joy to listen to. The best songs are Hanging by a Moment, Unknown, Breathing, Quasimodo, Simon, and Somebody Else's Song. The low points? Good luck finding any....
Free Music Review: The "It" Band of the Year! Hit: 5 Stars
When a new group emerges onto the scene, it's sort of expected that their debut CD consist of a handful of great songs and about 8 lame ones. This group and this CD is the exception. Upon popping Lifehouse's "No Name Face" into my player, I found myself enjoying not a handful, but a whole CD of radio-worthy, hit-making tunes. The CD begins with with their debut hit and my favorite track "Hanging By A Moment". This is one of those songs that you can hear a million times and still get that chill down your spine. Who hasn't found themself falling in love with the same person over and over? Destined to be the follow-up hit to "Hanging.." is the second track "Sick Cycle Carousel", a meloncholy tune about trying to hang onto love, but ultimately failing. Other notable mentions include: "Breathing", "Somewhere In Between" and the breathtaking "Everything", which comes in a VERY close second as favorite track on the cd. "Everything" is so passionate that you are forced to just close your eyes and take in every word and every syllable. It's magical. Songwriter and lead vocalist, Jason Wade, has a set of vocals beyond his tender age of 20. His voice is a beautiful blend of strength and tenderness. It's amazing how he can go from a rocking "Cling and Clatter" to the soft "Everything" with such ease. This group is destined to be a huge hit. And if they aren't, that's a shame. "No Name Face" is, in my opinion, one of the best rock CD's of the year. I see many songs from it crossing over to mainstream, making Lifehouse the new "It" band. Gennie Bailey-Rogers
Free Music Review: One of the very best albums ever! Hit: 5 Stars
What can I say about Lifehouse that other Lifehouse fan's don't already know? Not much! These guys are the very best band out there today & all of their music rocks! I love everything about this band, I love everything about this album! "Sick Cycle Carousel" is an awesome song (my personal favorite) & "Only One" & "Breathing" are also standouts on this album.
This band is universally appealing to everyone, the music is wonderfully written & played & the lead singer Jason Wade has the most radio friendly voice out there today. Their songs are creative & fantastically executed & there isn't anything I don't love about them or their music.
I give this a 5 star rating all the way & HIGHLY reccomend you listen to their other albums Stanley Climbfall & the newest one Lifehouse. They are both as good as this one & you will love them all. Standout songs on Stanley Climbfall are - " Just Another Name" w/ it's rocking riffs, "Stanley Climbfall" & "Take Me Away".
Standouts on Lifehouse are - "Blind" (the very best track on that album in my opinion), " All In All", "We'll Never Know" (with it's catchy guitar & vocals, it just makes ya want to dance & sing along!) "Come Back Down" & the much radio played release "You & Me" which is a showcase for Jason Wade's amazing vocal talents. His voice is very unique & distinct & set's many hearts a flutter when he opens his mouth as well as setting him apart from all other lead singers out there today.
Lifehouse is definately the best band out right now w/ consistantly great songs being made & released & I look forward to hearing many more albums from them in the future, I can't wait for more!
Free Music Review: These guys are goin places!!! Hit: 5 Stars
Man, words can't describe the taut, gripping feeling you get when listening to Lifehouse. I'll be honest. The only 3 tracks I just can't get into are "Unknown", "Only One", and "Somewhere In Between". But the rest of the songs are so emotional and so ecliptic. I have to say that now that I've listened to this album, Hanging By A Moment is kinda repetitive. Some songs you can relate to personally such as "Everything". Even though I'm male and it may sound like I'm a wimp but tears reached my eyes when the song reached the 4 minute mark of "Everything". The song starts out slow and soothing and then just explodes into a beautiful ballad. Jason just lets it all go "You're all i want, You're all I need, You're Everything. EVERYTHING."I take lyrics on this album very seriously. P>Now I see a lot of people giving sole recognition to Jason Wade. But I wanna take the time and give much-deserved credit to Sergio and Diff. You guys really add a great touch with drums and bass. Believe me, you will do yourself a big favor when you buy this CD. I've downloaded every song but I said to myself "That's just not enough." I have to be able to listen to Lifehouse when I'm away from my computer. So I went out to buy 3 copies of the CD. One for my CD player, one for the car, and one for my portable CD player for when I'm at school. As you can see, I love this album and I won't stop liking it for a LONG time to come. My opinion as an 8th grader might not mean very much to you but I know how to appreciate great, mature-sounding music like Lifehouse. Us teenagers don't all listen to hard-rock like Limp Bizkit. You won't be sorry when you buy this. And remember, 05 FOREVER BABY!!
Free Music Review: Incredible CD Hit: 5 Stars
I don't have a whole lot more to add to all the praise that other reviewers have already given this album, but I would just like to say this is one of the best albums I have bought in quite some time. I can listen to this album straight through and not skip a single song. I love every song except Trying, but even that one is growing on me. The CD is so good it is hard for me to pick a favorite, but if I had to pick one it would have to be Simon. This is a such a moving song, it's almost worth buying the album just to hear it. Someone Else's Song, Somewhere In Between, Cling and Clatter, and Everything are quite good too. This CD is not very hard other than Hanging By A Moment and Quasimodo(amazing song, should be a single), but it is great to listen to if you want to relax. Some of the songs may be slower than Hanging By A Moment, but all of them are interesting to listen to and this album will not bore you. The lyrics are intelligent and thoughtful, and you can tell this band has poured their heart and soul into these songs. These guys sound like a mix between Creed and Vertical Horizon, and Lifehouse's lead singer Jason Wade REALLY sounds like Scott Stapp of Creed during some of the songs. Although I recommend this to fans of Creed/Vertical Horizon, regardless of your taste in music I find it hard to believe that anyone could dislike this cd. Mostly all I listen to is the Dave Matthews Band, but "No Name Face" has been in my CD player constantly since I bought it 2 weeks ago. If there is a "must buy" CD for 2001, "No Name Face" by Lifehouse is most certainly it. These guys have quite a bright future in this business!
