Free Music Notes for Stanley ClimbfallFree Music Review: Lifehouse Asserts Itself with Sophomore Effort Hit: 5 Stars
The boys of Lifehouse were left with quite a daunting task when they began recording their second album, the follow up to the multi-platinum debut "No Name Face" which included the most played song of the year 2001, "Hanging By A Moment." Lead singer Jason Wade penned most of the tunes for "Stanley" on the tourbus between shows. The result is a finely crafted piece of rock and roll melted together with dashes of adult contemporary and pop music. The cd plays out like this:
1. Spin- 8/10 rating
First single off the album. A catchy tune with a rockin hook but one could do without the singing during the bridge and the lengthy instrumental at the end of the song that the radio cuts out.
2. Wash- 7/10 rating
A solid tune that starts out with a distorted guitar and builds up to a catchy chorus.
3. Sky Is Falling- 8/10 rating
Very melodic and beautiful song.
4. Anchor- 6/10 rating
This song is good, but one can become lost in the chorus when Wade becomes very difficult to understand, not one of the best songs on the album.
5. Am I Ever Gonna Find Out- 7/10 rating
A forceful song that ends as quickly as it begins. A new sound for Lifehouse on this song, and a good one at that.
6. Stanley Climbfall- 10/10 rating
A beautiful ballad, this song is flawless both musically and lyrically. Possibly the best song on the album.
7. Out Of Breath- 8/10 rating
Similar to the smash "Hanging By a Moment" as far as tempo is concerned, this is another catchy rock tune from the boys.
8. Just Another Name- 6/10 rating
Not one of the best songs on the album, this mid-tempo tune loses the listener in the boring chorus.
9. Take Me Away- 10/10 rating
The second single off the album, this is another masterpiece from Lifehouse. Rivals "Stanley Climbfall" as the best track on the cd.
10. My Precious- 6/10 rating
A dull song that Wade wrote in a similar way to "Hanging By a Moment" where he wrote it during the recording of this album. Too bad the result of this song wasn't as successful.
11. Empty Space- 9/10 rating
Beautiful ballad with wonderful lyrics.
12. The Beginning- 9/10 rating
Another wonderful song that builds up to a strong bridge.
13. How Long- 9/10 rating
A great bonus song about the 9/11 attacks, this song shows off the emotinal side of Lifehouse.
14. Sky Is Falling (Acoustic)- 8/10 rating
Great rendition of a great song
Overall, this is a marvelous cd from the boys of Lifehouse. Although they may not garner as much airplay with any of these songs as they did with the freakishly popular smash "Hanging by a Moment," this cd will get its share of radio hits and will help further the career of these talented musicians.
Free Music Review: Lifehouse - Stanley Climbfall Hit: 5 Stars
Lifehouse frontman Jason Wade quoted a Dreamworks executive saying 'you have you whole life to write your first album and just a few months to write the second'. Although that statement sounds credible and applicable for Lifehouse, the difference in quality between their debut album 'No Name Face' and this follow-up is barely recognizeable, though the band has invented a totally new sound for themselves while keeping some of the first album's characteristics. Below you will find reviews of all the tracks.Spin - An oath to Led Zeppelin? Maybe. Seemingly inspired by that group, it opens the album in a typical rocking fashion. 9/10 Wash - Features a great instrumental intro and an awesome chorus. 7/10 Sky Is Falling - A bit monotone, but beautiful in some parts. One of the more quiet songs on the album. 7/10 Anchor - Sounds like it wasn't made by Lifehouse, being very heavy and hard. The lyrics are typical of Jason Wade, but it's a bit too far off for my liking. Still a great song in its own right. 6/10 Am I Ever Gonna Find Out - Makes great use of the wide range of Jason's voice, a bit on the short side, but one of the better songs on the album. 8/10 Stanley Climbfall - A beautiful ballad that has Beatle-esque atmosphere troughout some parts of the song. One of the best songs on the album. 8/10 Out of Breath - Hanging by a Moment part 2, the pacing in this song is similar to the smash hit by Lifehouse, though the bass line and chorus aren't quite as catchy. 7/10 Just Another Name - One of the weaker songs on the album, it is a quite boring one for Lifehouse standards and the lyrics aren't in the same league/style that we're used to from Jason Wade. 6/10 Take Me Away - One of the best songs Lifehouse has ever made, this song is beautiful on the album, but it can be played in so many variations: a long, epic rock variation as well as the acoustic set, which transforms it into an emotional ballad. An awesome, awesome musical masterpiece. 10/10 My Precious - Drowns in not so memorable lyrics and insturmentals, one of the weaker songs on the album. 5/10 Empty Space - Superb song with great lyrics. Ballad-like, but has a rocking style to hide its purpose. One of the better songs on the album. 9/10 The Beginning - Something totally different for Lifehouse, but it ends up being a great song. Starts slow, but the pace picks up further along. 7/10 How Long - Awesome song that features as a bonus track on the album. Very great intro with drums and some guitar accords. 8/10 Sky Is Fallin acoustic - Great acoustic version of a great song. 7/10 All in all simply not as good as 'No Name Face', but this is a great follow-up seeing how high the expectations were. My highest possible reccomendation, also for people who still know Lifehouse only from Hanging By A Moment, Sick Cycle Carousel or the beatiful Breathing.

Free Music Review: Lifehouse's Stanley Climbfall, The Grandslam of Mainstream Hit: 5 Stars
Rhythms reminiscent of Zepplin intermingled with Radiohead and a hint of Coldplay & the Foo Fighters on tracks like Wash, Spin, Empty Space, and Take me away are literally built on a "ROCK" foundation that will withstand time. That deep voice of Jason mixed with the drum beats of Rick & Sergio's resonating bass provides entertainment for the mainstream metal enthusiast as well as melodic meanings in a time when we are all searching for meaning. This album recreates the air guitar for those who thought it died! It leaves you feeling rejuvenated, uplifted, refreshed... Stand, Climb, Fall provides lyrics anyone can relate to. The acoustic verion of Sky is Falling is beyond words and allows you to feel one on one with the band! The maturity of this band is well represented in tunes such as Anchor and My Precious. It makes you think, "these guys are how old?" This band has stepped up to the plate and delivered a Grand Slam! It is just what we need post 9-11! Stanley Climbfall makes you want to get up and dance around or tap out the drums in unison with Rick and feel lighthearted, free! It is impossible to sit still & listen to these awesome tracks! The time has come for artists to play their own instruments and write their own music-Lifehouse delivers on both charges and far surpasses expectations left by "Hanging by a Moment"! The interpretation of the lyrics is left up to the individual so it can be personalized to each person which creates more of a one on one perception with the band. This is not corporate rock or studio enhanced voices. This record challenges you to handle the real music and ROCK with the big boys! Can you handle the challenge? Best thing about this band is they sound as good LIVE as they do on audio, and this is a rarity in today's technological world where harmony seems to be a reflection of days gone by. It is impossible to pick one favorite off of this album! But, Anchor makes me feel grounded and Take me Away makes me want to be rescued! It leaves you wanting more and more and more...Buy it and you will see for yourself! It rocks.
Free Music Review: Most people don't understand... Hit: 5 Stars
Interesting how so many people can listen and write reviews, yet miss the largest aspect of this album and the band... It's all about God! Anytime Jason mentions 'you' people assuming he's talking about a girl, but it makes much more sense in a spiritual context.
Couple examples:
Wash - 'Never meant to waste your time, never meant to fall out of line, I was trying to get closer to you'. Most guys don't worry about 'keeping in line' in a real relationship. This is about trying to get closer to God and making mistakes on the way.
Anchor - 'You are my anchor.' Just makes more sense for God to be an anchor than any given person because in God everything is as it should be, so He is a logical starting point for all that we do.
Stanley Climbfall - Perhaps referring to the perpetual futility of attempting to gain something in life and having it, inevitably, slip away. The Bible often comments on material goods being as sand and useless matter.
Out of Breath - 'Keep living for the day that I'm with you.' Makes sense in reference to living every day of one's life for God in anticipation of heaven in the next life.
Take Me Away - 'All I want is You, there is no one else who can take your place.' Could be referring to a girl, but, again, makes more sense in referring to God as God is the ultimate and nothing can take His place.
Empty Space - 'You're beautiful, you're confusing, you're illogical, you're amazing.' God works in mysterious ways. Why would Jason call a girl confusing or illogical? Instead, he is saying to God 'You are so amazing that I can't even begin to understand You' in praise.
The Beginning - 'Hello from the world below.' Doesn't get much more obvious than this line. Jason is probably referring to praying from the earth into the heavens where God is listening.
I hope this helps people see Lifehouse in a different light and, I'm quite sure, the way it was intended to be seen by the band (as I've noted through various interviews and such).
