Free Music Review: A Nearly Complete History of the 1980s
Hit: 5 Stars

If you lived through the 80s or are interested in learning about them, this is a great place to start. Not simply a set of 7 CDs containing most of the popular songs from that time, this compilation contains a very exhaustive companion book that describes what was happening to American culture during the 1980s. It was like looking back through an old family album. I caught myself saying, "oh, yea, I remember that!" Everything about this set screams the 1980s, right down to the neon-colored designs of the box and on faces of the CDs. Of course, no set of 80s CDs can contain every song from that time and some of my old favorites are missing, but I am glad I bought this set and can recommend it without reservation.

If you love the eighties, then you have to add this to your collection. Nice!!!

Free Music Review: An Awesome, Totally Rad Collection Of 80s' Tunes.
Hit: 5 Stars

The 1980s' were a time like no other right from the start. Disco had faded away, and new wave, soft rock and headbanging metal anthems were the norm. Many hits abounded from this era, some of their performers became stars, while others vanished after one single. Some songs were better than others (often a lot better), but when taken into account, they were all classics and still are.

This 7 cd Rhino boxed set contains 142 1980s' classics. Some songs, like "Whip It", "Ghostbusters" and "Walking On Sunshine" are still played around the world today, while others like "The Breaks", "Ah Leah!" and "Major Tom" haven't been heard by most in years. All the songs have been digitally remastered, and better than ever.

All of these songs cpature what the 1980s' was essentially about: fun! This is a great trip down Memomry Lane through the world of tube socks, ripped jeans and flashdancing. Some may complain that artitsts like Madonna, Prince, Springsteen and Michael Jackson are not present, but really, haven't we heard enough of them already? This is a great chance for those who lived through the 1980s' to experience once again the "Me" era, and those who weren't around for it like myself to get acquainted with it. I highly recommend this boxed set to all.

Oh, and one more thing, the booklet is superbly put together.
