Free Music Notes for Like, Omigod! The '80s Pop Culture Box (Totally)Free Music Review: perfect title for a perfect 80s collection Hit: 5 Starsthe only thing missing from this collection is a rubiks cube. someone dug deep into the archives to find the billy crystal song. some songs here are garbage "da da da" and "you dropped a bomb on me"....however....some songs featured here cant be found anywhere else like the theme song from "hill street blues". 7 discs and 140 songs and someone forgot about madonna / genesis / the police / def leppard / and AC-DC (just to name a few). "video killed the radio star" was dropped a notch to song #2 on disc one...quite a small tragedy considering that one song took pole position for MTVs debut. the song by foreigner "i want to know what love is" is perhaps one of the greatest songs of all time, the best slot would have been at the end of disc 7 instead of the middle of disc 5. everytime i hear the song "geopardy" i cant help to think of its parody song by weird al yankovik "i lost on geopardy". the price of the set is reasonable considering the average price per disc is about 12 dollars..... wake me up when the matching vidios are released on DVD.

Free Music Review: What the hell? Hit: 2 StarsAs a compilation of course there will always be something missing...but no Pet Shop Boys? no Madonna? no DM? No New Order? No Michael Jackson? Maybe their record companies or the artists themselves did not allow their songs to be included here but seven discs and 90 bucks for a compilation missing these giants are almost a shame...As one of the reviewers pointed out, 60% good music and the rest is garbage- and that 60% is not wonderful music (for instances instead of Broken Wings, Kyrie by Mr. Mister etc etc)
Free Music Review: The BEST 80's Compilation So Far Hit: 5 StarsSome fans of the 80's will find more songs in other box sets and even there might be better selections of songs. This compilation outstands from the rest since the quality that Rhino puts in their music is great and also this set comes with a 90 pages booklet that will bring information of every song on it along with pictures and headline news of the decade.
I was a teenager in the 80's and by listening to the songs, reading the booklet and watching the pictures I was able to go back in time and enjoy some precious memories that money can not buy.
Two kinds of people will enjoy this amazing box set,
1- Those who went to high school and had fun with the cheesy pop and soft rock from the 80's.
2- The newer generations trying to go back in time to find out the roots of some of the popular tunes of nowadays.
Song buyers will complain that a lot of the popular artist from the 80's will be missed in this compilation, but most of the real 80's fans will rather have songs that are barely played in the radio but still were popular in our scenarios than big stars that are easy to find in CD and are still played in a lot of the radio stations around the world.
This is the key of success for these products from Rhino.
Go and buy yours, do not even attempt to download the music. It is worth to collect these songs on these 7 CD's.
Free Music Review: overall a good collection Hit: 4 StarsThis is a good choice to pick if you're looking to purchase all the songs featured normally on the 80's Pop or similar CDs. It doesn't have anything by the more mainstream and still in the public eye artists but is more a showcase for the one-hit wonders and "where are they now" artists. I bought it as a Gold Box purchase and got the "good deal" that way. I wouldn't pay full price for it.
