Free Music Notes for Lilith Fair: A Celebration of Women in Music

Free Music Review: Lilith Fair, Volume One
Hit: 4 Stars

Many of the performers at Lilith Fair received far more attention, but it is hard to believe that any of them, in the course of their entire careers, will come close to equaling the stature or influence of the sublime Emmylou Harris. Pay close attention to her achingly rich and layered performance here of "Going Back to Harlan" and you get a taste of a singer of bottomless depth, intensity and genuine emotion. She is America at its most authentic and noble.

Free Music Review: In Point...
Hit: 4 Stars

One major point of Lilith Fair is to showcase new and emerging female-headed talent, which this CD does quite sucessfully. I found a couple of the songs to be rather tedious (some folk music can be that way), but for the most part this album accomplishes what it set out to do. Kudos to McLachlan and Co. for giving the world a pop version of the Michigan Womens' Festival, something that those of us who cannot get there sorely need.

Free Music Review: this has nothing to do with feminism
Hit: 4 Stars

lilith fair is an amazing combination of women musicians. not only does it comprise the well-known female artists, but also shines a little light onto those who are trying to break into the music scene. the festival may or may not be about feminism, but it put out an excellent cd which allows all women (and men too) to listen to powerful voices of strong women. don't degrade a cd put out by all women, celebrate it.

Free Music Review: Made me proud to be female
Hit: 4 Stars

I bought this release on its first day in record stores. I was not familiar (UNFORTUNATELY) with Lilith Fair until I discovered the music of Sarah McLachlan, and my love for the music of Lilith Fair grew from there. I knew I could not pass up this year's celebration of women in music, and when listening to this CD I became thrilled to know I would be there this time!

Free Music Review: Inspirational

I really enjoyed the music mix on this CD. A worthy musical investment and a must-have.
