Free Music Notes for Lilo & StitchFree Music Review: Is it "The Best of Elvis" or a soundtrack? Who cares! Hit: 5 Stars
If you had to choose a previous Disney soundtrack that was, at least, similar to this release for their 41st feature, "Lilo & Stitch," the best possible choice would have to be "Fantasia." Now, you might be wondering what a selection of classical favorites has to do with a movie about a pint-sized alien masquerading as a dog ... bear with me a moment and my line of thinking will make sense."Fantasia" and "Fantasia/2000" tell their stories using music prepared outside the studio, in this case the works of several noteworthy composers. "Lilo & Stitch" also tells its story through the songs of one of history's greatest performers, in this case the legendary Elvis Presley. You see, Lilo, one of the lead characters in the movie, has a nearly obsessive fascination with The King. This fascination works its way into the soundtrack thanks to seven hit Elvis tunes. Five of those ("Stuck On You," "Suspicious Minds," "Heartbreak Hotel," "Devil in Disguise" and "Hound Dog") are original recordings of Elvis himself, restored to exquisite clarity for this new release. Two other songs, "Burning Love" and "Can't Help Falling in Love," are given a modern twist thanks to country star Wynonna and Euro-pop sensation A*Teens, respectively. Some of these songs are even introduced by Lilo and Stitch themselves! The remaining five tracks are totally new for this movie. Three are pieces from the orchestral score by Alan Silvestri. While not as playful as the rest of the soundtrack, they do reflect the mood of the movie at points, either with rousing adventure ("Stitch to the Rescue") or utter despair ("I'm Lost"). The last two tracks on the disc are, in my opinion, the best of the bunch. "Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride" and "He Mele No Lilo" remind the listeners that the movie still has an island groove, despite its sci-fi leanings. Both are performed by a talented chorus of Hawaiian schoolchildren and will have you tapping your toes from start to finish. At the very minimum, the soundtrack will whet your appetite while you await the release of the movie this summer. Even more, it provides a great starting point to introduce your kids (or reintroduce yourself) to one of America's first pop icons.
Free Music Review: Very good, missing one song though Hit: 5 Stars
I love this sountrack! I guess it helps that Lilo and Stitch is my favorite movie, but this soundtrack is definitely a winner. This thing is packed with Elvis hits from start to finish, and all of us old folk will be moving our hips again to these old tunes that were still pretty popular when we were young. It's nice to see the King resurrected once again for an amazing movie. Then there's two Hawaiian songs which are simply beautiful, very happy and very traditional in feel. The sountrack opens with Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride which is very fun, used at the beginning of the film, and later we hear He Mele No Lilo which is the one they played while surfing later in the show. There's a version of Can't Help Falling In Love by A-Teens, which is pretty good, and Burning Love by Wynona, which is spectacular! And if you saw the movie you'll notice that this song has Stitch on guitar at the ending, it's worth a smile to think about that scene while listening to this song. I've said it in another review of the movie, that Stitch is my fav Disney character, and the fact that in the movie Stitch played some of these songs (with the help of Lilo), makes the whole thing more enjoyable. The last three tracks are score from the movie. Not as exciting as what came before it, but I guess it's necessary to include them. It is fun though to listen and try and pick out the parts from the movie that they came from, Stitch to the rescue is of course from the part where Lilo is kidnapped by Gantu, forcing Stitch and Jumba to fly after him in their own spaceship, as stitch tries to rescue Lilo. Very good fun. There's only one problem...this sountrack doesn't include Nani singing "Aloha 'Oe"! How sad! I was really looking forward to hearing that song again, as that part of the movie had me in tears, yes, tears. And lot's of them. Why they didn't inlcude it here is beyond me. So I take 1/2 a point off for that and give this sountrack 4 1/2 stars. Still very good though, be sure to buy it.
Free Music Review: Soundtrack has something for everyone! Hit: 5 Stars
I am excited about seeing "Lilo and Stitch", and I am here to tell you about this soundtrack to the new Movie!! There are Elvis songs on here, and 2 are covered! I will never hear "Hound Dog" again without imagining the part where Lilo opens Stitch's mouth, and the music comes out of it while his fingernail is on the record. The voices of the title characters' dialogue are heard here, too!(and on the read-along) Now for the Covers: Wynonna is NOT the first female to cover "Burning Love". I heard Melissa Etheridge cover the song on a tv special and companion recording "It's Now Or Never: A Tribute To Elvis" back in 1994. Wynonna sounds like she's having fun on this song, too. This is also not the first time she sang for a cartoon. Her voice was in a "Magic School Bus" episode, too! OK, "Can't Help Falling In Love" was covered so many times by the likes of Corey Hart, Celine Dion (On the Divas Las Vegas Special), and UB40, whose version was heard in the movie, "Sliver" and hit Number 1 during the 90's. A*Teens perform this song like a dance pop tune, and I have a feeling some may not like it, but It would be a hit with the Radio Disney crowd(A*Teens even covered Abba songs.)The scores part I don't care about, but you will be familiar with the guy who composes them, his first name is Alan. It's a sound track for everyone who like Elvis and Lilo and Stitch, too!:) You can also get a copy at the Disney Store That has a special exclusive Changing cover!;) I forgot to mention The Hawaiian-Inspired tracks belong on a Hawaiian Music album for Children because of the vocals.
Free Music Review: Fun, Fun, FUN! Hit: 5 Stars
I loved the movie. And guess what? I love the soundtrack too. The music fits so perfectly with the emotion in the film...its amazing. The opening song "Hawaiian Rollercoaster Ride" is great..."there's no place I'd rather be/than on a surfboard or out at sea..." it evokes the emotions of carefree beaches and sunny skies. Elvis hasnt been up on my list of favorite artists, but his songs are great as well. "Stuck on You" "HoundDog" and the others make me want to tap my feet and dance along. Great, just great. Wynona Judd does a version of "Burnin' Love" and makes me want to get up and dance as well. Her voice is awesome and evokes a fun playful emotional response. The other song that I enjoyed was the cover of "Can't help fallin' in Love" sung by the A Teens. They have done the song well and mixed it nicely. It evokes a fun, bubbly, and playful sense of awareness. The song is played at the end of the movie during the credits, when we are seeing pictures of Lilo, Stitch, Jumba, Bubbles and the others. They message isnt necessarily one of romantic love. It is one of a joyous sense of belonging and loving those that are closest to you...family and friends. I listen to this CD on my way to morning classes, and it makes me totally ready for the day. Its awesome. I dig it. Enough said.
Free Music Review: A Excellent Soundtrack For An Excellent Movie! Hit: 5 Stars
The story of Lilo and Stitch is about a crazed bio-engineered experiment titled "626" A.K.A: Stitch. And a lonely little girl from Hawaii named Lilo, who wishes for a friend and gets Stitch.Well Stitch is also from outer space, and was going to be exiled onto a deserted planet but escapes and steals a space cruiser and crashes onto the planet...Earth...Hawaii to be exact.Stitch acts like a dog so he can be Lilo's pet.But two space aliens are trying to bring him back to outer space. So it all becomes a big mess. But I'm supposed to be reviewing the soundtrack aren't I? This is an awesome soundtrack, with 5 Elvis songs,2 covers of Elvis songs by the Country singer Wynonna doing "Burning Love" and the A*Teens remake of "Can't Help Falling In Love With You".Along with with 3 original scores from the movie. Also did I mention you get 2 original songs from the Kamehahmeha childrens chorus:Hawaiian style! In the CD you also get pictures from the movie! So,It's very complete package with great songs so it is definitely recommended by me to whoever reads this review.I hope this review has been helpful to you. PS:This is my 10th review! Thank you to all who have been reading my reviews,I really appreciate it.
