Free Music Notes for Lilo & StitchFree Music Review: Great movie, great soundtrack Hit: 4 Stars
I LOVED THIS MOVIE. It turned out to be one of the most wildly emotional movies I have ever seen; outrageously hilarious and devastatingly heartbreaking all at once. This is a difficult enough combo to come by in most narrative stories, but in movies, the music is often a key factor in helping to achieve that effect. It's really amazing how wonderfully this eclectic collection of musical numbers captures the spirit of "Lilo & Stitch." They're all upbeat, quirky, and fun (though all in their own different ways), and I think that's what does the trick; they seem to have been chosen so that the lyrics of each one very nicely reflect the themes of the movie and the characteristics of Stitch himself (particularly the Elvis songs). Wynonna's "Burning Love" cover has a lot of fun and energy invested in it, and is easy to listen to over and over again. My personal faves are the Hawaiian-themed songs. "Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride" is an upbeat, happy number that serves as a great intro to the movie, while "He Mele No Lilo" is much more melodic, beautiful, and soaring piece that brings the film to a very emotionally satisfying end. My only complaint about this rather short 40-minute soundtrack (and the reason that I gave it 4 stars instead of 5) is that there was SO much room left to include more than just three pieces of Alan Silvestri's wonderful score, yet that's all we've been given. I can only assume that Disney will be releasing a score-only soundtrack in the future, but this will be enough to tide me over for now because the songs are so entertaining. I mainly bought it for "He Mele No Lilo," anyway. This soundtrack probably wouldn't have much going for it on its own, but once you've seen the movie and have the visuals and emotions of it to mentally attach to the music, you'll love this soundtrack tremendously!
Free Music Review: Fun Fun Fun Hit: 4 Stars
This is Disney's most fun soundtrack in quite awhile. You can't help but smile then get up and dance along to this collection! Five of the 12 songs are Elvis originals, and sure to be the most crowd pleasing tracks presented. There seems to be great potential for animating to these songs. I look forward to what the Disney animators have come up with. Strangely, 2 or 3 of the tracks stat off with a few seconds of dialog. I don't care for this kind of thing, but at least they are very short sequences. My favorite tracks though are the the 2 original Hawaiian themed songs by Mark Keali'i Ho'omalu. They hit on just the right combination of authenticity and pop. They're sure to become staples of luao parties across the country. I'd love to hear a whole album of material like this! 'Burning Love' by Wynonna is a rocking rendition with a country twang. But the A*Teans version of '"Can't Help Falling In Love" is too sugary sweet to be consumed. One listen was more than enough for me. The three tracks of score are good enough, but you'll be listening to the Elvis and Hawaiian songs much more. And that's the real problem. These score tracks take up nearly 14 minutes on a 40 minute CD. That means if you're not planning on listenig to the score, you're only getting 25 minutes of music. As usual, a limited edition (30,000 units) of the soundtrack is available from Disney stores and the Disney Parks. It doesn't offer any extra tracks, but does include a cool picture insert that changes between two images when tilted.
Free Music Review: The fun! Hit: 4 Stars
With time, Disney-films have become increasingly cheekier, grown-up and well ... groovier. We've had Hercules, The Emperor's New Groove and Toy Story. Now Lilo and Stitch is obviously a next step in this (r)evolution. No sweeping, dramatic songs in this one. Not one. Instead, you're served a whoopin' dish of rock `n roll! You can't go wrong with a soundtrack like this. Some bits of Elvis here, poppy A*Teens there - as well as excerpts from Alan Silvestri's symphonic film-music. And don't forget the traditional Hawaiian music (thank Silvestri for that too). A most unusual soundtrack to a Disney animated film. A bit short, I must agree. And too bad there're no Enhanced CD extras (the disk-space - and Disney's creativity - is there for that sort of stuff, hint hint). But after each listening, do I leave the room a-swinging? Does it improve my mood? Do I like this album? ... my God I know I do! This one gets four stars... just for the excitement of it. Bram Janssen, The Netherlands
Free Music Review: Another Oscar for Disney! Hit: 4 Stars
This is a GREAT soundtrack, the mixture of the island sounds with those of "the King" is super. The only thing I did not particularly like were the 3 score pieces at the CD's end, they are dark and depressing (from the sad parts of the movie). I would not be surprised at all if "Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride" gets an Oscar nomination. Get ready to hit the "repeat" button several times for this classic island song! Overall a great soundtrack from a GREAT movie.

I bought this CD for my kids ages 6 & 3. They both love to watch the Lilo & Stitch TV show and have all of the movies. I put them into my car CD player and they are enjoying them.
