Free Music Review: The Remixing Generation Hit: 1 StarsI have only one thing to say about remixing,dubbing,additions,changing,touching-or coming near a song that was recorded in the 1980's---- DON'T TOUCH ANY SONGS FROM THE 1980's OR REMIX THEM !!!!!I have never been so disappointed by the fact that every good song from my generation-when I was in my 20's from 1980-1990 has been hacked on and cut up and doesnot sound anything like they did. This does a grave injustice to the singers and groups that recorded the songs. I feel they should have been left alone. If the Generation X and Y want there remixes-let them take their own whinney rap and other senseless music of today and remix them. How will they feel when they are 43 and they hear their favorite songs from yesteryear all hacked up and added too and messed up and the voices thinned out. I bet they will be very pissed. I have a Shirley Bassey CD that has 3 remixes on it and I almost passed out when I heard how they screwed them up. Come on people- how the hell can you remix "Love Story"? And as for Lime-they were sacred in the 1980's and I danced many a nite to their songs and sweated to them and lived moments that I will never forget, and was very happy. And in one fatal blow-someone with a mixer and so called technological advanced thinking-screwed up all my memories. I donot care if young people think we are fuddy duddy's or not-because we want to listen to songs now-the way they were then-If the kids today want all this tecno dribble-then make up your own stuff. LEAVE OUR MUSIC ALONE!!!!
Free Music Review: Lime...definately not a lemon Hit: 5 StarsMy God...I was dancing to Lime back in the crazy 80s. The brother and sister team definately helped to shape what is now High Energy "Club". (Club?...come on now, call it what it is...DISCO!) (Why is everyone so afraid of that word?) Anyway, This album represents the best of one of the greatest groups to ever fill a dance floor. I highly recommend it for anyone who has ears!
Free Music Review: HiNRG Heaven Hit: 4 StarsI've often asked myself why no one has ever taken this band into serious consideration as a pioneer in the current dance music scene. They were among the best dance music makers in the early eighties. I would say they were better dance music makers than New Order, or even Bobby Orlando. They used pop, disco chords, and very high energy beats to make a sound unlike no other during the post disco era and the catchyness of their choruses is better than any of the disco era itself. I've listened to this CD quite a few times and compared it with the pop that is out now, and I can say I'll stick to this. The only problem with the cd is the omission of tracks like You're my Magician, Wake Dream, and Agent 406. The remixing by the Latin Rascals is good, but if you can, try to buy the original extended mixes on other cds.
Free Music Review: LIME'S GREATEST HITS Hit: 4 StarsThe album is enjoyable ... my only complaint is that all the songs are REMIXES. So its not really possible to enjoy the radio version of these songs, although the 'club' versions are reminiscent of good times. A better combination would have been to have both radio & club versions available.
