Free Music Review: beautiful style, some lyrical reservations

The sound of this CD is wonderful. The combination of the 20s and the 90s makes a unique sound that is fun to listen to. As far as what Lina is actually SAYING in the songs, there are some high lyrical points as displayed in "Don't Say Nothing", "I'm Not the Enemy", "You Don't Know", "Waiting", and "Stranger on Earth." But I became confused with songs like "Batches" and "Playa No Mo" where Lina feels the need to express herself with profanity, some rather explicit. Being a fan of hip hop, I have learned to have some tolerance for profanity in order to appreciate the underlying artistry, but it seems out of place and unnecessary here.Overall, I give this CD 4 stars for the unique style and pretty good lyrics. I'd love to give the CD 5 stars, but there are some songs, "Right Place, Wrong Time" and "3rd Finger Left Hand", that just aren't aren't up to par with the rest of the CD, and the profanity in other songs bothers me.
I look forward to Lina's future work. I hope next development goes toward the R&B side of expression rather than the hip hop side. I'd love to see a blend of Lina and Adriana Evans!
