Free Music Notes for The Inner Beauty MovementFree Music Review: Better than most commercial stuff!! Hit: 5 Stars I had to give props and write a review for this one. I gave Inner Beauty 5 stars, because the album is not commercial stupid. There are no WACK rappers and STUPID hooks on it.
In my own opinion, Lina has a very unique and beautiful voice, reminscent of jazz singers from the 30's, 40's, and such. I also love how jazz elements from that era are mixed in with modern beats. (more so on her first album) I loved her first album as well, even though I felt two or three tracks were wack.
When I found out her second album was with Hidden Beach, I had to buy it no questions, even without sampling it. I wasn't disappointed one bit. Inner Beauty is hip, smooth, and more mature than her first without being commercial stupid.
If you like artists such as Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Amel Larrieux, Alicia Keys, Vivian Green, even Lizz Wright you should enjoy Lina's The Inner Beauty Movement. BUY the album!!
Free Music Review: You should buy this disc! Hit: 5 StarsLina is a true find. Get this CD!!! I'm sure like most entertainers out there she has been working at her career for a while but this is the first time that I had heard her music. The tracks are pretty good to fantastic and she has a very nice sound, Urban Jazzy.
I can't stop playing this CD. This is one of those play it from beginning to end type of CD's. Tracks: Leaving You, Come to Mama, I Am and Run to Me are my favorites. I really don't understand why she hasn't had more radio air play. Smooth and Leaving you have been the only two tracks that I have heard on local radio and I live in the Los Angeles area! The chances that this will happen are slim as this album is about a year old now and that is ancient in the music industry if you don't have a huge hit producing album.
This is a great disc to listen to while driving on a Sunday afternoon or to have on when friends are visiting. I recommend it completely. I hope that we hear more from Lina and soon!

Free Music Review: The Inner Beauty Movement Hit: 4 StarsI really enjoyed Lina's debut and was really excited to hear about her sophomore release. Now I bought this last summer but have been listening to it off & on just like I did with her debut which gave me some time to appreciate her growth as an artist. I'm happy that neither she nor her label tried to force her sound into today's "hip hop happy r&b" mold; instead Lina stayed true to herself and continued making music that makes the best use of her voice and also did not stray too far from her debut (as Tweet did) so that fans who loved her sound weren't jarred by the sophomore release.
At 18 tracks (3 interludes), it is a bit long BUT the songs are so interesting that if you listen to it in one sitting, you'll be disappointed when it does end.
The standout tracks to me are: SMOOTH - excellent lead-off single to reintroduce Lina to the music fans; MY FIX - sounds like it could've been released on the debut, uses that excellent Billie Holiday-ish jazz sound mixed with r&b; HOPE, WISH & PRAYER - her voice sounds so beautiful on this track and I also loved the musical arrangement of the string section; THIS TIME & LET IT GO and finally the interesting melding of her & Anthony Hamilton on AROUND THE WORLD.
Overall I'd recommend this disc highly to those who enjoyed her debut as well as to the curious who are seeking out good r&b music that mixes jazz elements & is outside the box of what's considered traditional r&b and leans more towards neo-soul.
