I bought this CD based on the VARIETY rave review of her recent Carnegie Hall concert where she performed all the songs from this CD. And I'm so impressed with her voice, I'm buying all her CD's now. What a range...from singing the softer songs so beautifully to finally hearing someone belt the right way...with a loud, controlled power. This CD has a little different take on some of the classics, with original and lush arrangements and orchestrations. I've never been a huge broadway fan, but I certainly will be now no doubt after hearing the sensational Linda Eder sing these songs. What a voice!...she has to be one of the best belters ever, with several showstoppers showing a controlled power thats beyond belief... but she has an equally impressive softer side. Both are highlighted on this CD...I've really never heard such range in a singer. This CD gave me goosebumps..and believe me, thats no small accomplishment.I recommend this CD for not only broadway lovers, but also lovers of great songs sung with one of the best voices ever.

as a long time Linda Eder fan, i consider this cd to be a gift to her fans. she covers several of her own songs and they are fresh and different and even more beautiful than the first time around. the standards have been changed slightly to give them some new angles, but the Eder voice is soooo there and sometimes the power of it challanges the mind as well as the speakers. a must have cd for any collectionFree Music Review: Absolutely has the voice but questionable talent

Nobody ever questioned Linda Eders ability to sing. She has the wind power to break windows, but so do most two year olds. Linda Eder has never learned to control her instrument. Most Critics have picked up on this, ( Amazons own reviewer Elisabeth who said she "roared" through her album, and the New York Paper, who said she was "Bombastic"). I would have to agree with both of them. Linda Eder just opens up her mouth and belts. In the days of Ethyl Merman, that was ok. These days we have wonderful singers like Barbra, Norah, Christina,etc. that have such great tones and emotion to their voices. Linda Eder has none of this.
The last thing that I don't like about this album is the choice of material. I believe Eder has had very poor advice on her track selection. These are tired out songs from the past. Many of them are repeats from her old albums, and the ones that aren't have been immortalized already by the likes of Liza, Barbra, and other great artists. It's the same as if a new painter today tried to repaint the Mona Lisa. I know Linda Eder
is not a song writer, but she should find a good one and start over. I give this album 1 star, I believe Linda Eder can do better.
