Free Music Notes for Broadway, My WayFree Music Review: Linda Eder Strikes Gold Once again Hit: 5 Stars
With the follow up to the amazing cd Gold, Linda Eder has proven that she can sing with the ones in every single way. The arrangements by Jeremy Roberts is perfect. Linda Eder's gift is clear with the way she handles such songs that considered "man songs". Man of La Mancha has become a staple signature for Linda in all her concerts. The Impossible dream will soon join it. Don't Rain on my Parade too haas become a showstopper at the end of Act 1 of every Eder concert. No longer will she be considered a Barbra Striesand wannabe. Linda is in a class of her own , followinf in the footsteps of her idols, Ella Fitzgerald, Judy Garland, Frank Sinatra, and yes Streisand. Her lyric three octove range soars in all the melodies heard on this cd. Her Ill be seeing you will soon become a fan favorite as it evokes memories of soldiers saying goodbye to their loved ones before going off to war. Some people is meant to be lively and bouncey like you never heard it before. Anew life is another signature song for Eder from Jekyll and Hyde. She sings this song with such emotion that you understand why this is the eleventh hour song from tne musical, filled with rich melodies and vocal power.Unnusual Way is a swet song of song , put over very well by Linda Eder. Edeliwiess with LInda singing in 34 part harmony with herslf, one word OUTSTANDING!!On the street where you live has been performed by Linda for some time in concert. It's a real crowd pleaser and a winner here, too. I am what Iam, Linda again proves she is more than up to the task and challegne of another so called "man's song" with a version that is soft and sweet , mellow and romantic. All in all, this cd is a worthy addition to anybody's collection. To Linda Eder fans, ran don't walk to your nearest music store. This is a true classic in the making by a really classy talented performer.
Free Music Review: An unbeatable recipe. Hit: 5 Stars
The combination of an all-Broadway repertoire and the greatest voice in American music today is what Linda Eder fans have been clamoring for, and she has given it to us...and then some. For those few who may be experiencing her talents for the first time, "Broadway My Way" will hook you in but good. Linda newcomers: Linda's voice produces the similar shimmering, Disney-esque high notes similar of a Streisand, and the full, heartbreaking middle-to-low range that sounds even more remarkably like Garland. But ultimately, Linda really sounds like no one else but herself. Once you hear her voice, you'll never mistake her for anyone else, or vice versa. Every melody she touches on this new project sticks in the head like glue. "What Kind of Fool Am I?", a song for which I've never cared greatly, I now cannot stop humming. She's singing mostly standard Broadway fare here, but has stepped into a whole new arena of interpretation, with daring phrasing, rubato tempos, and unique arrangements. Even that old warhorse "Edelweiss" is fresh-invented with a subtle, almost African rhythm and a chorus of angelic Linda's singing backup. "Some People" makes my heart pound with all her dramatic nuances and inflections. "I Am What I Am" will have listeners throwing open their closet doors across the country. When I first saw the song-list, I wasn't that thrilled, since a few of the numbers I've heard Linda perform in public or on previous CD's countless times before. But some are stunningly re-recorded, and they fit so well within the pattern of the newer choices, I now can't imagine the CD without them. Wouldn't it be great if the promoters...could grab the ring and get this gem out there with the current trend of public appreciation for American pop-standards like Diana Krall, Barry Manilow and Tony Bennett? More, please, Linda . . . and BRAVO!!!
Free Music Review: In a League of Her Own Hit: 5 Stars
As a broadway fan, I've seen many of the broadway greats perform (Cook, MacDonald, Minnelli, Streisand, Chenoweth, etc.), but although each of these stars are immensely talented, its Linda Eder who really excites me like none of the others. Her voice is absolute perfection and on this CD her breathtaking range is wonderfully showcased. She's one of the best belters ever, with a controlled power that few, if any, others possess. And unlike most of the other belters, she has an etheral, silken soprano where high notes are held in a beautiful vibratto, then dissolve into these elegant whisper notes. Thankfully, Linda has made a pretty daring CD unlike all the others out there. Arrangements are fresh and original and interpretations pure and honest. She has included an excellent mixture of classics, lesser known gems...and songs normally sung by men. There really is a good selection of songs here for both the seasoned broadway veteran and the new fan. The seldom recorded "Anthem" from Chess is particularly timely now, and Linda makes this song her own with a heart-tugging reading. "I am What I Am" is destined to become a classic..it's roof-raising sensational! And a risky new age version of Edelweiss also scores as Linda sings along with 34 of her other vocal tracks. Pure heaven. Unless you are a huge fan already, you probably don't own the four repeated tracks here, so dont let the negative comments here about their inclusion bother you. They are some of Linda's best songs. Also, be aware that a few of Bab's more protective fans appear to see Linda as some sort of threat which is ludicrous. Although theres a certain similariy in their voices, their styles are very different...Linda is much more warm, with a definite sexy, brassy side. This CD is a must purchase for any lover of broadway or any new fan of broadway.
Free Music Review: Amazing........Linda Eder is simply amazing! Hit: 5 Stars
Simple laymans terms can not convey the 'Voice' and the talent that this mere mortal posesses. At a recent NJ concert, Linda Eder mesmerized her fans once again with another outstanding performance. "I Am What I Am" is just that...she is what and who she is! Not only does she sing her favorite Broadway songs that are on the album, the team has added fan favorites such as 'Bring On The Men'---'Storybook'---'Havana' and the absolutely knock out pairing of "Losing My Mind/Unusual Way" to the show. It will leave you speechless. For you Broadway Music Lovers, this is the CD you have been searching for. I personally have never heard a better version of 'Some People'. The same with 'Edelweiss' there are 35 backround layers of Linda Eder's voice on that track. I know it's hard to explain, but it sounds awesome! What kind of Fool am I...I'll Be Seeing You...The Impossible Dream...Anthem...and the song that Linda's fans begged her to record, 'Don't Rain on My Parade' will satisfy your thirst for the old classics...done with a new twist. With Linda Eder, her husband Frank Wildhorn and Nan Knighton working on a new Broadway Mucical, "Camille Claudel" the featured song, 'GOLD' is part of the concert schedule as well as on the CD. Also added to the concert is another song from Camille called 'Coming Home'. I could go on and on with praise for this singer. I hope I have in some way assured you that acquiring this, or any of Linda's music will not be a dissapointment. She is simply amazing! I'd like to borrow the final line from Linda Eder's latest bio and share it with you. "Now is Linda Eder's time, and she's doing it Her Way!" God Bless You Linda! Please keep the music coming! We Love You!
Free Music Review: The best broadway singer ever! She knows how to belt um!!!!! Hit: 5 Stars
In my opinion this is the greatest broadway disk ever released in the history of mankind!! Linda eder has the voice of an angel and can be compared with no one! When you hear her sing it takes your breath away! She can sing the phone book from A to Z and also the yellow pages along with the area codes, zip codes, and time zones for all I care and it would be beautiful! And she would belt out the ending too with a long held out note for 20 seconds and with a big band ending too! But really, I think this album has it all! Don't listen to the negative people that are jealous that they can't sing like her. Linda has packed the album with quiet sentimental broadway favorites that she could sing to soothe even the most savage beast. And also sings broadway songs that MUST BE given a good belting,or two. If you want these sung with no feeling and emotion like a cheap no talent, no clothes wearing singer then you can go and buy some cheap album like STRIPPED by Christina. But if you want REAL music that has feeling and emotion behind it like she really cares about what shes doing THEN, Broadway My Way is the ALBUM for YOU!!!! This album is in constant rotation in my car and any other stereo I can find! I even have a copy for my house and for my car! Thats how much I love this album. If you love broadway classics and want to hear them by a true broadway star, then this album is for you. So if your ready for the most amazing Broadway album ever within the history of when the bright lights hit broadway then you NEED to buy Lindas album!
