Free Music Notes for Broadway, My WayFree Music Review: The best songs from the best voice, and she did it her way! Hit: 5 Stars
A Broadway collection for a new generation. The torch has been passed from GARLAND to STREISAND to the very capable hands and incomparable voice of LINDA EDER. Every choice is risky and yet thrilling. Ms. Eder could sing Broadway standards for the next thirty years and still not honor anywhere close to all the composers responsible for this truly 'American' art form. So, instead, she does do it her way, and by doing it so splendidly, honors everone who ever treaded THE GREAT WHITE WAY. From the showstopping "I AM WHAT I AM" to the haunting "ANTHEM" from the Streisand classic "DONT RAIN ON MY PARADE" to Ms. Eder's own classic "A NEW LIFE", and every track in between; musical monuments to the Giants of the Theaterworld, sculpted by the voice of an artist at the height of her skills. If this is a preview of her return to Broadway, HOW LUCKY CAN WE GET!!!

the fact that after Linda Eders album came out- their were board poster(s) on the ... site that posted 4 consecutive nasty personal slamming rather than a logical listener perspective reviews, suspect to hurt new sales of the album---after some investigation - the posts come from Florida as the 1 star post on your board. themes are the same as the writer compares Barbara w/ Linda exlaining how Linda's conceited which is furthest from the truth--so this may be someone with a personal agenda-please investigate the authenticity of the posting & if they multiply-with new names-its probably still the same person- which merits immediate deletion.I have met the artist- and she doesn't have an ounce of conceit whatsoever- shes one of the few genuine people in this world who takes time for her fans... Need to say-dishonest posts are uncalled for.
Free Music Review: Linda Eder Shines Hit: 5 Stars
Linda Eder has done it again. For anyone who knows anything about music, her clear voice and remarkable range are highlighted on this album. She can go from the powerful statement songs (I am What I Am, Man of LaMancha, Don't Rain on My Parade), to the quiet, peaceful and poignant (Edelweiss, I'll be Seeing You, Unusual Way). And no matter what the few will say, she does Broadway Her Way. Not Barbra's, not Judy's, not Ethel's. There is nothing to find fault with on this CD. You may like other versions of these songs better, but these are still worth the listen. The incredible control, and the ability to hold a note longer than just about anyone on the planet (and it doesn't lose a thing at the end!) are nothing short of amazing. Singers everywhere will have to listen over and over to catch all the technical brilliance of these songs. Enjoy it!
Free Music Review: my taste, my ears Hit: 5 Stars
although another sparkling review is overkill, Linda Eder can sing songs that others just can't match. One of my favorits is "I'll be seeing you" because she just sings it as written and does it perfectly, I get tired of too much personalization of a great song. Just SING IT. who cares who wrote what, Frank Wildhorn's songs belong on terrific albums by terrific singers (as Big Time by Lisa Richard). It is silly to compare singers, either you like one or you don't. On the other hand my ex-opera singing friend (masters U of Cincinnati) tells me Linda has the pipes to compare with anyone in her genre of music, ever. Her power and emotion are my all time favorite. When I saw the show in Cleveland, she sang don't rain on my parade, better than the recording, Babs would have been green with envy.
Free Music Review: Her voice, Her way! Hit: 5 Stars
This new release by the incomparable Linda Eder is an easy listener's joy! Her voice is pure perfection in how it wraps itself around each note and displays so many nuances.......the highlights on this album are EDELWEISS, A NEW LIFE, WHAT FOOL AM I, DON'T RAIN ON MY PARADE, THE IMPOSSIBLE DREAM, MAN OF LA MANCHA and GOLD....my only minor complaints are 1) I wish there had been a few more uptempo numbers included and 2) I wish she had performed this cd with a live orchestra and not a studio one.......other than this, it is a pure joy as always to have the great LINDA BACK AT HER GAME! *After more listens, I changed my review to 5 stars....it lacks nothing!!!!!!!* What the slow songs and studio orchestra bring are serenity and peace and in today's world we need it! Thank you Linda!!!!*
