Free Music Review: It's Time for Christmas with Linda
Hit: 5 Stars

Every die hard Eder fan has been waiting (and some begging) for a Christmas album from the Diva of Broadway. "Cristmas Stays The Same" was worth the wait. I was expecting a compilation of old classics for the season, but was supprised at the new sound many of them offer. The amazing orchestration of 'Do You Hear What I Hear?', the elegant simplicity of 'Ave Maria', and the classic Broadway belter presentation of 'O Holy Night', are just a sample of the gems on this album. Lindas Jazz fans wont be let down by the swinging fun of 'Here Comes Santa Claus/Santa Claus Is Coming To Town'. There are three original pieces that again showcase the talents of Frank Wildhorn, and Linda joins the songwriting set adding her talents as a lyracist to 'Christmas Through A Childs Eyes'. Traditional Christmas carol lovers will be pleased at the inclusion of The Broadway Gospel Choir on several tracks, their talents being particularily showcased on 'Silent Night'. Tucked into the last portion of 'The Christmas Medley' is one of the best moments on the album, with Linda offering a beautiful lullaby version of 'Silver and Gold'. Breaking from their traditional musical forte to cut a holiday album is always a risky venture for any vocalist. With her first Christmas album, Linda Eder proves that her vocal talents can encompass a most cherished genre. Whether your a long standing Eder fan, or just a collector of great holiday music, "Christmas Stays The Same" will prove itself an excellent addition to your collection.

Free Music Review: "Christmas Does Stay The Same!" Thank you Linda!
Hit: 5 Stars

Today is Tuesday, October 28, 2003. I have been listening to Linda Eder's Christmas CD everyday for the past week, and it will continue this way until next March. Seems her fans just can't get enough of Linda's voice, especially her Christmas voice.
'Christmas Through A Child's Eyes' is a song whose music was written by Linda's husband, Broadway composer Frank Wildhorn, and Linda herself wrote the lyric to their son Jake. A Mother singing to her child. It doesn't get any better than that.

One of my favorite songs on the CD is 'Do You Hear What I Hear'. Linda is accompanied by a choir and the sound is amazing. This is also the song that Linda and the choir performed two years ago at the lighting of the tree in Rockefeller Center in NYC.

However, my VERY favorite song is "The Bell's of Saint Paul".
Ladies and Gentleman, hold onto your hats...this song will blow you away. If you are new to Linda and Frank's work, purchase this CD and give yourself the best Christmas/Holiday gift ever.

This CD is surely a must have if you are looking for classic Christmas music. It will always be a part of my family's holiday celebrations.

My greatest Christmas wish would be for Linda Eder and Frank Wildhorn to consider recording another Christmas album someday soon, for what they give us, is both priceless and precious!

God Bless You Linda! Your fans Love You!!

Free Music Review: Untraditional Traditional Christmas CD
Hit: 5 Stars

Make no bones about it...Linda Eder is her own person. She imitates nobody and puts everything she's got into her projects. This CD is no exception and stands high among her other pieces of work. The majority of the songs are all traditional, but some of their arrangemens are so fresh and rewarding that you feel as if you're listening to an old friend for the first time. Her "Santa Claus" medley takes on the Big Band sound, while "The Little Drummer Boy" has an arrangement fitting of someone like Enya. Then there is the Aftican sound of "Do You Hear What I Hear?" and the gospel-inspired rendition of "O Holy Night". This is one of the most satisfying Christmas CDs I have come across in years and one that I have yet to tire of listening to. And if you want to just drift into your own little world, grab a glass of wine, sit in front of the fireplace or just hold a loved one (or both) and listen to her rendition of "Silent Night". I guarantee you'll be carried away to a place that only you can visit in your own mind. You'll hear the magic, the artistry, and the simplicity of a voice in such a way that epiomizes the the belief that a voice like hers is also a musical instrument demonstrated by the control, sensitity, and bravado she musters throughout this CD. I truly believe you will not be disappointed.

Free Music Review: Eder Soars on Christmas CD
Hit: 5 Stars

New Yorkers and Broadway fans will be familiar with song stylist Linda Eder for her performances in "Jekyll & Hyde", and later "The Scarlet Pimpernel", both with musical scores by her husband Frank Wildhorn. Her voice is immediately affecting, being both rich and powerful, yet never forced or overproduced. Many people liken her to Barbara Streisand and it's easy to hear why. Not only does she have an amazing range, but her phrasing is remarkably similar to Steisand's, particularly on "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas." Close your eyes and you may not be able to tell the difference!

This is a beautifully produced CD and worth having in your Christmas rotation. Backed by the Broadway Gospel Choir her version of "Do You Hear What I Hear" begins with a melody that sounds almost from 'The Lion King',and works up into an uplifting and jubulant number.

"Silent Night" is gorgeous, almost haunting with her voice floating high above the chorus, and the sometimes forgotten "The Little Drummer Boy" gets one of the best recordings I've ever heard. Kudos for all the lush and classy arrangements. This is a Christmas album to cherish!
