Free Music Notes for Christmas Stays the SameFree Music Review: THE VOICE FROM HEAVEN Hit: 5 Stars
This one was well worth the wait! This Christmas CD is one that I will be listening to all year. I have bought several of these and gave them to others who didn't know what they were missing. I think Linda's Christmas CD will be a classic in the years to come. Streisand only recorded one Christmas CD that is still out there every holiday season and I think the same will happen for Linda. I can't even imagine how she would ever improve on this one. For those who have never heard of Linda Eder do yourself a huge favor and buy this cd. All of it is just amazing. Silent Night never sounded so beautiful. When you hear The Bells of St. Paul you can just picture two people in love walking the streets of London. What a beautiful song. Anyone who has ever had a child can understand the beautiful lyrics that Linda wrote for Christmas Through A Child's Eyes. There isn't a song on this CD that isn't wonderful. Treat yourself with an early Christmas present and buy Christmas Stays The Same
Free Music Review: A Christmas gift to treasure! Hit: 5 Stars
Linda Eder has yet to come out with a less-than-stellar album, and this one is no exception. Her vocals, backed up by the Broadway Gospel Choir and an exceptional group of musicians, are phenomenal. There are the traditional carols which have been given the flair that only she can give, and of course, what album would be complete without a couple of Frank Wildhorn's beautiful melodies? Fans of "Vienna" will enjoy "The Bells of St. Paul," a gorgeous carol with the same type of musical flavor. She gives Judy Garland a run for her money with her rendition of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas." "Do You Hear What I Hear?" is one of the most inspirational arrangements that I have heard to date. I could go on and write a book about how wonderful this CD is, but you must hear it for yourself--buy it!! You will not be disappointed. "Christmas Stays the Same" is truly a gift to treasure. Thanks Linda!
Free Music Review: A New Christmas Classic !!! Hit: 5 Stars
This is my first Linda Eder CD, but not the last. I would recommend this CD without reservation. Put it right next to your Nat King Cole because it will get played just as much! This is a superb choice if you like to mix new sounds of Christmas with your tried and true collection. It's new and innovative, yet the music still carries the substance of a Christmas CD that will still sound great in 10 years. There is not one single song I would skip over. New arrangements of traditional songs too. I love the upbeat arrangement of "Santa Claus is Coming to Town." Ms. Eder's voice is like a big tub of sweet honey buttah! She is often compared to Streisand, whom I love, but Ms. Eder sounds like she is having way more fun singing. Like Garland told Streisand, it's really great when a gal can really "belt out a song." Need I say more? Just buy it and Merry Christmas!
Free Music Review: Highly Recommended Hit: 5 Stars
Though those in the know have been fully aware of Broadway diva Linda Eder for several years now, few in the mainstream have been exposed to her plentiful talent. With any luck, CHRISTMAS STAYS THE SAME will change all that. Released last year, the album showcases Eder's flawless voice, often compared to Streisand but truly in a league all its' own, as well as her take on several Christmas standards and a few new originals. Though the entire album is first-rate from start to finish, particularly good are 'Do You Hear What I Hear?'(which boasts a tribal-like production arrangement back by a gospel choir), 'O Holy Night', and the glorious original 'The Bells Of St.Paul'. Not only is this one of the best holiday collections to come along in recent memory, it's just an overall outstanding pop record. If you have to get a Christmas cd this year, make sure it's this one.
Free Music Review: Essential Listening Hit: 5 Stars
There are few seasonal albums on the market today that can hold even the slightest candle to this album from Broadway star Linda Eder. Working in tandem with producer/husband, they've crafted a warm, accessible, and totally inviting set, punctuated not only by Christmas classics but some terrific original material as well. Highlights include a jazz-inflected big band medley of 'I'll Be Home For Christmas','Let It Snow', and 'Silver and Gold'; a powerful rendition of 'Do You Hear What I Hear?', framed by a fantastic tribal arrangement, and a beautiful reading of the classic 'O Holy Night'. Vocally, Eder remains one of the most technically perfect vocalists working in any genre of music--comparisons to Streisand are more than justified. Overall, one of the smartest purchases you'll make all year.
