I have had the 4 Non Blondes CD for years, and I am amazed that there weren't more hits. I have always thought that Linda Perry has one of the best voices I have ever heard, and "In Flight" just proves that. I didn't even know she had a CD out, and I stumbled across this on amazon.com. Linda Perry is, without doubt, a talented musician. But to me, and I suspect many others, she is more than that. She is an inspiration, a radiant star, a tangible example of the potential for greatness that exists in all of us. Linda comes across as recognizably human but with an inner drive that propels her to the edge. She proves that an ordinary person can become divine.For many years, I listened to Linda's music, finding in it an engaging mix of personal strength and weakness. Her emotional display is raw, unadorned and all the more appealing because of its directness. There is no effort to cloak her feelings with polite convention: to the contrary, emotions are hung out with graphic language for all to see. Their presentation, especially with Linda's unique (and endearing) vocal style, almost dares the listener to pay attention. It might be easier to turn away from her songs than to listen to them. That is a good part of their charm. Especially to me.
Linda's songs are heartfelt and intimate. A listener can imagine seeing clear into Linda's soul. The songs are that direct, the voice is that convincing. Only an artist with great ability could attempt such directness and make it believable.
