I never really listened to spanish music until I started liking Linda Ronstadt. When I heard her sing in spanish, I thought she was bilingual. It turns out she is not. She sings spanish so well that you can't really tell. "Canciones De Mi Padre" is a fabulous album. My favorite songs are "La Charreada," "La Calandria," and "Y Andale." I just love the traditiional mariachi music. I think this album is superb. Even if you don't listen to spanish music, you will certainly like this album. It definitely gets 5 stars. This album proves that Linda Ronstadt is the queen of spanish music.Free Music Review: Outstanding job, Linda, muy bien!

I bought this CD when I started listening to Mexican music a short while ago and love it so much I ordered Mas Canciones within the month, just got Frenesi today. I read one or two reviews putting her down for this...why? Putting down the 'ay ay ay's" ...why? This is mariachi! I like her better doing this than country or 40's, it really rings true.The songs are lovely, lyrical, will make you cry even if you can't understand them. Try listening to Dos Arbolitos and you'll be won over! Her 2 brothers are also fabulous on this and on Mas Canciones. They should put out an album of their own. You'll love it. im into rock music and this is madness at the highest level,,i dont know any rock band or anyone who can do what is on this CD,,
it is trully incredible to think that linda is alive and well,,,who needs U2 and Kiss,,most pub bands with a little backing can play that stuff,,
But this is will be the foundation of me buying every album like this in future,, And yes i have lindas early albums since i was a kid, they never age or sound tired.
This is a masterpiece and apparently there is a live DVD simmilar to this CD,, i want it now!!!,, i love ya linda! steve in Australia

This CD is a long-time expected to purchase for me. I happened to find it while browsing Amazon US shop in music category, besides much cheaper than purchased in Japan. Hallelujah! I love Amazon US.
And next time I hope Linda would sing and release in GERMAN, her mother's language.
I also recommend her album titled "Jardin Azul/Las Canciones Favoritas" means "Blue Garden/The Favorites Songs" which is compiled from a couple of her albums of Spanish language songs including all-time latin classics "Perfidia" and "Quiereme Mucho". All songs are featured her own commentary in a booklet. A great work!

When I was little around six I used to dread having to learn Spanish and freaking about speaking it in front of my grandmother. Until my mom bought a copy of Linda Ronstadt's Canciones De Mi Padre and by learning the lyrics to Tu Solo Tu I had memorized the whole song IN SPANISH by heart. Thanks to this cd my Spanish has greatly improved and not as weak as some speakers. If you are looking for a good way to learn Spanish this cd is for you and if you love the way Linda sings in Spanish try any cds by Pedro Fernandez and once again Happy listening and happy learning too
